When AI Moves From Knowing to Doing, How Does Governance Change?
Hello, Data Governance Circle! 👋 I'm the founder of ReconAI.net , where we're exploring an increasingly important question: What happens to governance when AI stops simply providing answers and starts taking actions? Traditional data governance has taught us the importance of data quality, lineage, ownership, access, and accountability. Those foundations remain essential. But agentic AI introduces another dimension. Imagine an AI agent that can access financial records, evaluate a transaction, and initiate a payment. The data might be accurate. The system might have legitimate access. The recommendation might even be correct. But does the agent actually have the authority to execute that payment? That's the distinction we're exploring at ReconAI.net. We're interested in how organizations can establish clear boundaries between what an AI system knows, what it recommends, and what it's authorized to do. And importantly, how we preserve evidence of those decisions so humans can understand, challenge, and audit them. One principle guides our thinking: Access is not authority. Intelligence is not permission. I'm here to learn from practitioners who have spent years building the foundations of data governance. I'd love to hear your perspectives: As organizations adopt autonomous AI agents, should governing their actions become an extension of data governance, or does it require a distinct governance discipline? Looking forward to learning and contributing alongside everyone here.

I am excited to have you here 🎉 This space is for data professionals, analysts, students, and leaders who want to learn, share, and grow together around all things Data Governance — from data quality to AI readiness. 👉 Find all the ressources in the Classroom section! 👉 To kick things off, introduce yourself in the comments: - Who are you and what do you do? - What brought you here or what are you most curious to learn about data governance? - And tell us one fun fact about you (something unexpected, funny, or just cool 😄). We’ll get to know each other, share experiences, and start building a real community of data enthusiasts 💡 Welcome to the Circle 🔵 Let’s make data governance simple, practical, and fun together!

Hello everyone! 👋 I'm the founder of Recon.AI, where we're exploring a critical question: What happens to governance when AI systems move beyond generating information and begin making decisions or taking actions? My work focuses on runtime trust, delegated authority, evidence provenance, and accountability for autonomous AI systems. I'm particularly interested in how traditional data governance evolves to support agentic AI, where data quality matters, but so do authorization, policy enforcement, and defensible decision records. One thing I've learned: Just because an AI system has access to information doesn't mean it has the authority to act on it. Looking forward to learning from this community and exchanging perspectives!
