Launching Apples, Rocks, and a New Drill
Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend! We had a blast up on Whidbey Island and spent part of the weekend teaching family and friends how to use a sling. It was really interesting to see how much easier it was for anyone who had already used a mace or practiced rope flow to pick up the mechanics. It’s all connected. Slinging uses the same circular mill patterns and body rotation to launch an object with a ton of force. We had an apple tree with a bounty of small apples that were perfect for launching, plus a wide-open bay, so it was pretty much the perfect setup for letting people try it out safely. It was a ton of fun, and it even inspired this week’s Drill of the Week, which is now up in the classroom! I’m sharing a short highlight video, along with a longer video showing some of the “teaching” that was going on. And if anyone is interested, maybe we can plan a little group sling lesson one day!

Heyyy
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Did you get to do any movement? The DotW #3 is up in the classroom and I'm hoping to have a new full flow class up after the 4th. Have a great holiday weekend!

@Debbie Johnson that’s so great! Love that you’re having fun with the rope! Let me know when you go through the 101 course and if you have any questions or want to see anything added or changed.

Drill of the Week #2 is up in the Classroom! This time it’s a fun little rope drill that’s more of a brain teaser than anything. If you’ve got Matadors in your arsenal, you’ll have a good time with this one. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
Sierra Madre Mace Meet Up Schedule
Hey hey! It’s been a minute, and I’m excited to catch up and swing mace with you guys again. I know the air quality has been bad because of the two warehouse fires, but I’m hoping it clears up by tomorrow morning, 6/21. Either way, I’m planning to head down to the park at the normal time and feel it out from there. Another option is this Wednesday night at 6pm. I’ll be teaching a mace workshop at Studio MoMu, and you can download their app and get tickets on their site. https://www.studiomomu.com The rest of our schedule is updated on the Skool calendar tab. Hope to see you soon!

Intro
Hello to all! Responding to the intro questions: My favorite way to move is dance. I was drawn to unconventional fitness after witnessing a demonstration at the Star Belly Sacred Arts Festival in Boise. It is another manifestation of dancing. I love the elegance, spirituality, and intentionality of the movements! My favorite place to get this type of movement in is the park where we met after the festival. It was delightful! My back yard will be second best. Something else I do for fun is belly dance. Thank you to those of you who brought this to us!

So great to have you here, and I love that you jumped in and did the intro! It was so cool getting to see all the belly dancing in Boise, and I can definitely see how these different styles of movement are connected. Really glad you found us at the festival, and I’m excited to be part of this movement journey with you!
