Seems like that guy's a legend already.
Skull Reference
Please critique I got the proportions a little off and couldn’t get full erasure of the appearance of a shadow in the foreground.

This is really good. I would suggest maybe two things to bring out the form even better: darken the back portion and the jaw a little bit, and widen the eye socket that is closer. I'll show what I mean:

Still getting used to vine/willow and compressed charcoal. I love the tonal range though.

Somewhere along the line it's gone from being "the" skull to "a" skull. With the obvoius mistake being its jaw too open. So I just went ahead and tried to emphasize the form in general. Hiding behind pentimento.

@Victor Sun Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I did watch it before drawing, and it made perfect sense to me. What you said about exaggeration and shifting focus is what I regularly do. All my drawings start to have a life of their own during the process, I'm just trying to direct them in a way that they'll still make sense as a whole. Also, I could spend days on rendering it more accurately, but as a beginner it's more important that I make more quick drawings than a few ultra polished. About the bright spot on the top... true and now I can't unsee. It's going to bother me forever because I "locked down" this piece with hairspray. On to the next one 😁

This is a more difficult one. the key is not focus on details and make sure your over all proportion and values are correct. then you can add details as you please. basically, if you look at your drawing from 10 feet away, does it look 3d and realistic. Make sure you post your drawings and any questions in the "post drawings" category under community tab. Reminding again, over all proportion and value, most important. Details like little dots or cracks, least important. These references are always optional of course. Make sure to go at your own pace and practice previous drawings/references if need be. You don't have to try this if you still having trouble drawing egg etc.

@Victor Sun Is there a way to open up a "references" section? It would make it easier to find the assets. They tend to get lost among the submissions. Just an idea.
