The challenge with narratives
Are narratives about yourself a positive? Some challenges I see with narratives is that they can be limiting, frustrating and at worst misleading. Some narrative examples - Good man - Productive employee - Smart student - Trustworthy person Narratives can be misleading when you think they are the right measurement but they have nothing to do with where life meets the road. I'm really trying to consider the impacts of what i do and don't do . Good intentions are not enough. We need to be curious about the impacts of our actions/ inactions in order to measure them well and improve ourselves. Are there any narratives about yourself that you have let go of or adjusted?

There are so many for me to be honest. I feel like im at a place in life where I can see the narratives more clearly, which gives me the ability to choose if i want to keep it or work on changing it. For example I have been slowly getting rid of the "good person" narrative, and the narrative that I'm a docile rule follower and the one that says my only value is my output. I do find narratives helpful like that of a lifelong learner or being a freedom fighter. I think its important to check to see if they are helpful and if they are helping me reach my goals or if they're holding me back.
Disconnecting isn't always bad
Taking time to disconnect can help us to regain control of our focus and internal drives. With all the dopamine and adrenaline we get daily from social media, work, family and friends. Our systems need a break periodically. We can't always go on vacation and many have challenges with mediation. Another technique is taking a break from input. Try it out for 15 minutes to an hour let me know how it goes.

I am definitely nowhere close to consistent but i have noticed an improvement since ive been spending less screen time. I try to have one spot outside my room to keep and charge my phone. Because my brain often works in a "out of sight out if mind" my quiet moments most frequently have been starting when i reach for my phone in my pocket and its not there lol

@Kevin Lee thats awesome that you dont bring your phone for your walk. Thats what I trying to do is leave my phone behind if I dont need it.
Gardening for your health
Whether you get a plant or do some gardening. There are benefits for physical and mental health. You can enjoy the quiet while you do it. Make a Playlist or do it with loved ones Or your community for quality time. Regardless it gives you something to.. - Focus and Care for - Come back to and see your results - Get into a new routine - Keep you off screens for a bit I'm planting sunflowers and green onions. If you're growing anything let us know.

Are you feeling stuck?
A lot of us go through times when we just feel stuck. Sometime it can be the loss of a loved one. Other times it's setback with work. Our personal relationships can be trying. What can help? 3 things I suggest. Talk to someone trustworthy. Someone who listens and doesn't need to fix you. Do something different.. in your day.. in your week anything. Lastly. Move your body. Dance. Walk. Exercise. It doesn't have to be fancy.

The reminder to move is really what i need to work on. Especially since my job can be draining in so many different ways im learning that sometimes the physical exhaustion I feel is not physical but rather emotional or spiritual. Yesterday I had a really rough day at work and when I got home I felt exhausted. The sun was out and its becoming rollerskating season, which is one of my favourite physical activities. Although I was tired I went to rollerskate anyway and im glad I did. I came back home feeling way more balanced and happy. In reflection i realized being active in the summer is way easier than in the winter. Hopefully i can figure out a better way to get exercise consistently in the winter
Start with Why
How are you feeling about the way you spend your time? One of the most frustrating things for me was working at a job where at the end of the day/week/month I could not put my finger on why I was made to do things a certain way. This was even worse in romantic relationships. I think it goes back to my childhood. In my generation when children asked elders not just parents why we were to do things a certain way the answer was " because I said so". This might explain my opposition to things that don't make sense. Eventually I realized how important knowing your why and better yet starting with it before you set out on a project or big decision left me with more peace at the end of the day. Simon Sinek wrote a whole book on this. It wasn't bad. Consider this your invitation to think about what you want to do today, this week or even further out and why it's really important to you. I find it helpful to even ask why your why matters to get to the root of my why.
