Think before you speak.
In today’s Real-Life Spanish session with Michael and @Robert Mendoza, we discussed a key strategy for speaking fluently: think in Spanish instead of translating from English. Spending just 15–30 minutes thinking only in Spanish trains your brain to speak more naturally. Think more Spanish, speak more Spanish. So, the more you think in Spanish, the less you have to think in Spanish... when speaking it.

I heard one youtuber mention they would narrate their day, it helped them to start to form spontaneous thoughts and speech in Spanish. I’m trying to incorporate more of that into my day :)

@Hailey Gomez lol! Yeah I’m not as consistent as I’d like either!
Thrilled to have found you all!
I’m a simple rural Saskatchewan (province in Canada’s interior - I know it’s a mouthfull) farm wife who is learning Spanish for travel and connection. My husband and I like to spend a good portion of our winters in Nicaragua and want to extend that to other Central and South American countries, and perhaps even Spain one day :). I’ve been learning primarily through consuming Spanish media and my geographical location makes it difficult to find opportunities to practice speaking or interacting with native speakers. This community and the instructors are an invaluable resource to help bridge the comprehension vs speaking gap! Shout-out to a member of the Dreaming Spanish subreddit who suggested it, joining was a very easy decision :)

Lesson 53 — Saying “I Need To…”
Spanish: Yo necesito estudiar. Yo necesito trabajar. English: I need to study. I need to work. Key Words: - necesito = I need - estudiar = to study - trabajar = to work Speak Challenge: Say something you need to do.

Joining classes late
Does anyone ever join classes on here a little while after it starts? What is the latest you have joined a live class on here? Sometimes I cant join immediately but 15 or so minutes after I might be available but I never join because Im late to the game. So just curious if anyone else does join late.

I’m so happy you asked this question because I was wondering the same thing! Really takes the pressure off :)

¡Hola a todos! Para organizar nuestro calendario de las próximas semanas, quiero proponerles una dinámica de días temáticos para que las clases sean súper enfocadas y productivas. The idea is to divide the sessions like this: - One day: Reading Comprehension with analytical questions. - Another day: Pure Conversational practice to get you talking and build fluency. - Another day: Grammar Quizzes to solve and correct together in real time. What do you think about this setup? Or would you prefer the classes to be just for speaking? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, your feedback is key! 💬👇

Me gustaria leer mas, maybe a book club could work where we have a book of the week or month and the lessons around it work through the chapters.

@Hailey Gomez yeah! Awesome :) feels like a great way to add reading to our studies. And could give us an opportunity to read slightly above our levels
