Whew. Let me keep it 💯 with y’all… Marketing my $13.33 ebook bundle these last few weeks? Straight rollercoaster 🎢 On one side: • tons sales since launching • 100+ DMs a day like yo, how does this work? • Daily proof that my offer is clear enough for real people to buy On the other side: • I dropped my sales copy in a copywriting group and they tore it up like I owed them back rent 💀 • Called it “confusing,” “snarky,” “hacky,” “too long” “scammy” • everything except good job, sis And it stung. Because I promised myself this year I’m going to get better with my copywriting Even paid $2k for a copywriting course to get better After seeing the feedback I ain’t even gonna front… For a minute I thought, fck, maybe I’m trash at this, maybe I should give up 😭 But here’s the lesson 👇🏾 👉🏾 The market spoke louder than the critics. The fact that a ton of people are buying the ebook bundle is all the proof I need that what I’m doing is working Opinions don’t pay bills. Credit cards do. Was my copy perfect? Nah. Was it Madison Avenue polished? Nope. Did it make sales anyway? Yup! I had to talk to my mentor and he was like: why would you change something that’s already working. Latoya I’m not even tryna hear that sht! 😭 Yes he speaks to me like that cause I respect a straight shooter Why did I feel the need to change it? PERFECTION CREPT IN! The voice telling me it can be better Acting like I ain’t got no damn sense So I still changed the copy to make it better to get rid of the crackhead itch I was having 😵💫🥴 But it reminded me that your copy doesn’t need to impress other marketers. It just needs to connect with your people. My people don’t care about “hierarchy of messaging.” Idk wtf 🤷🏾♀️ what that even means when a redditor yelled at me and said I needed hierarchy of messaging They care about gas money, nails, rent, side hustle cash this week. Period. So the next time you feel “not expert enough” or some rando makes you doubt yourself, remember 👉🏾 You only need to be clear enough for your audience to say YES.
