Happy Monday sewing friends! I'm really excited to announce that the classroom is getting a makeover - and starting this week I'll be taking you through the FULL *beginner's* sewing course - absolutely free! ⭐If you're willing to commit and follow along with each lesson, you are going to learn enough to be able to sew bags, easy clothing and all kinds of fun projects⭐ 📅 I'll be posting your tasks and lessons every 3 days. The full course will be available in the classroom once we're done. 📩 You will receive an email notification with the new lessons every 3 days - you can turn emails off in your profile settings if you want to opt out. Here's what you'll learn: - How to use your sewing machine - Machine functions and stitches - Basic sewing skills practice (corners, curves, gathering, sewing straight etc.) - All about FABRIC 😍 grainlines, types, fabric weight etc. - Taking care of your sewing machine And, OF COURSE you'll sew something! ✅ VOTE BELOW to tell me what we should sew together! 🚨 IMPORTANT to know: You will NOT be sewing a whole bunch of samples like a collar / zipper / facing samples. Wow - the group has grown to over 120 members in just 30 days! I'd like to welcome everyone who has joined in these past few weeks 🤗 Say hi below and tell us where you're from! I'm Christine and I LOVE SEWING! Some things you should know about me: - I never learned to sew as a child and thought sewing was LAME when I was a teenager even though my mom made tailored clothing and ball gowns. - I started sewing at the ripe ol' age of 27, and all I knew was what a bobbin is and that you have something called a seam-allowance. - I never attended a single sewing class...because they just didn't exist in my tiny town! - I spent MANY years fumbling my way through hundreds of patterns, tutorial videos and fabric that ended up in the bin... Of course I became obsessed with sewing, so I quit teaching Shakespeare to the rugby team and started teaching sewing! I knew there were other women who needed a different way of learning... Not the polished, highly edited style of YouTube influencers and pattern 'rat race' in the online sewing world. Real-time sewing classes that felt like a coffee and sewing date, and got you straight to sewing your first project. If you're new to sewing or trying to get back into it, I want to encourage you not to feel intimidated by all the content out there! Sewing is actually not that terrifying once you start, and you can't compare your beginner self with people who have been sewing since they were 9 years old. I don't believe beginners should be limited by 'beginner projects'. What you really need is just good instruction! The best thing you can do for your sewing THIS WEEKEND? Get your machine out, get it threaded and jump into your first project! You'll find all of that right here in this group → the Sewing 101 course is the exact course I teach to absolute newbies. I’m chuffed with this. Another massive old curtain (£2), with a heavy, slightly plasticky-feeling lining - perfect for my sewing machine’s jacket! It’s ‘roomy’ and not perfect - and I still need to work out how on earth to make a little flap in the top for the handle - but I’m chuffed with it nonetheless 😊
