@Krista Brea In Photoshop you can shrink the size of the file from mb to kb while still mainting the integrity of the image. I do this with all the images I use, even on my websites. Doesn't slow anything down.

@Krista Brea Yes, I plan on a lot of images in mine too :)
The Backstory Behind What We’re Building Here
Something funny came up in a conversation yesterday with @Lara Knutzen in another group… she called me out (in the best way) and said I should share more about myself. So here’s a little more of my story 👇 I had my son in 2021, and like many of you probably know… life shifts fast. Not just the responsibility, but the financial pressure that comes with it too. By the end of 2022, I knew I needed to create something for myself, something that could bring in income without trading more time I didn’t have. That’s when I started exploring passive income. 💰 I remember seeing an ad about making money with books, and my first thought was honestly… there’s no way. Writing a book felt like a huge, overwhelming task. But then I took a step back. I had a background in web and graphic design. I had years of experience in digital marketing. I am an SEO professional. The only thing I felt like I was “missing” was being a writer. And then it clicked… I didn’t actually need to be one. So I went for it. Fast forward to today...I’ve published 12+ books and generated over six figures in royalties… and it was all part-time. And as someone who’s naturally introverted, I didn’t build this by chasing people or convincing anyone to buy. I built systems that work for me—where the right people find the books. That’s the part I fell in love with. At first, I was completely content just doing this quietly on my own. But in 2024, I went to a business conference and started sharing what I was doing. The response surprised me. People kept saying, “You need to teach this.” So… here we are. This community isn’t just about making extra money. It’s about creating something that actually supports your life… not the other way around. For me, this has been about building income in a way that feels aligned, flexible, and sustainable. And that’s exactly what I want for you too. If you have questions about my journey, self-publishing, or where to start—drop them below 👇

Thanks for sharing your story. That's where I am at. Reinventing myself after closing down two businesses I'd been running for 30 years. I am fully embracing writing books and creating digital products.
Low, Medium, or High Content Books Simplified
You’ve probably heard people throwing around terms like “low content” and “high content”… but what do they actually mean when you’re trying to publish your first (or next) book? Let’s break it down in a way that actually clicks 👇 🟡 Low Content Books: Think notebooks, blank journals, or simple logbooks. These usually have minimal written content—mostly repeated pages or templates. They’re easy to create, BUT they can be harder to sell because they don’t always stand out. Amazon has also gotten stricter with these since many feel repetitive or “cookie-cutter.” 🟠 Medium Content Books: This is where things start getting fun 👀 These are a mix of structure + creativity—like coloring books, activity books, planners, guided journals, and workbooks. You’re adding more value, more uniqueness, and more reasons for someone to actually choose your book. 🔵 High Content Books: This is what most people picture when they think of a traditional book. These are content-heavy with actual writing—chapters, paragraphs, and deeper value (think self-help, guides, how-to books, etc.). 👉 These tend to perform really well because people are actively searching for solutions, stories, or transformation. 💡 My Take: I personally lean heavily toward high content books because they’ve been the easiest for me to sell and scale. There’s clearer demand, stronger keywords, and more perceived value. But here’s the truth…There’s no “one right way” to win on Amazon KDP. You can build a profitable strategy with low, medium, or high content—it all comes down to: - Your niche - Your keyword research - And how well you position your book Curious what type of book YOU will start with? Drop it below 👇

To be honest, after trying to add images to the book, I'm not overly keen on Atticus. To add an image, the only positions are left, centre and right. You can't click on an image and drag it around the page with the cursor placing it where you want it. With Atticus, the image doesn't show on the page in the position you want while formatting. You have to look at a preview screen to see the result. I'm thinking Word might be better. Atticus does do a 30-day-money-back guarantee.

@J P Scrivener is great for writing manuscripts, books, etc. I love it's organisation. I've been researching Atticus today and think I'll use it for formatting. InDesign is considered the best but is costly and you need a sub for both it and for Creative Cloud (compulsory to use the app.).

@Jim Flach I've written one on creating a sacred space which incorporates the home and the outdoor environment. I wrote it back in 2019 and have only just returned to it, so I might make a few changes or add to it. I've just started the process of formatting it and adding images.
