When I Stopped Checking the Leaderboard 👀
“The more we focus on what our competition is doing, the less we’re focused on what we’re doing.” ~ Simon Sinek Early in my sales career, I set a very clear goal: 👉 I wanted to be the #1 sales agent in the company. At the time, the longtime top producer had just been promoted to Sales Manager. The #2 guy was now sitting comfortably at the top of the leaderboard... and I was somewhere in the middle of the pack. Not even close. So I did what a lot of people do. I asked my new Sales Manager what he did to stay #1 for so long. His answer caught me completely off guard. He said: “I never paid attention to the sales rankings.” Then he added something I’ll never forget: “The answer you’re looking for isn’t found in the people ahead of you or behind you on the leaderboard. It’s found in how you show up every day.” So I tried it. I stopped looking at the leaderboard. I stopped tracking anyone else’s numbers. And I got hyper-focused on my activity. My calls. My conversations. My wins and losses each day. I only compared myself to: - My closing rate from the week before - My total weekly revenue No field. No rankings. Just progress. And something interesting happened...I got better every single week. It took me 13 weeks to hit #1. It took another 3 weeks before I even realized I was there — because I wasn’t looking anymore. Truth is, I couldn’t tell you how long I held the top spot. All I know is this: my numbers kept improving. 💭 Reflection: Where your focus goes, your growth follows. Not outward. Not sideways. Inward. Forward. Consistently. plus intention (not goals) I do not know how many leaderboards I climbed and never noticed until someone told me... 🤣
Level 1 Lurkers - What's Your Opinion?
So this came up on our BCBT Call today. BTW... if you are building a community or even think about it, and you're NOT on these calls... you gotta ask yourself Why Not? Anyway the idea of kicking people out of the group after a certain amount of time if they haven't engaged at all came up on the call today... we're talking like it's been months and they are still Level 1 with 5 points to go. Now, to be clear... We haven't done this in RECREATE or here in The HuRU Crew. And the "official" line from Sam and the Skool team is: "Note — Removing inactive or level 1 members doesn't improve your rank. Some people like to lurk." All that said, I'm curious what everyone here thinks. Should a person who has said nothing and likely won't ever engage, stay in the group? It's really a great question especially for a group like HuRU where the entire point is to Meet Nice People. Make Great Friends. Build Cool Communities. How can someone do that if they refuse to engage. So what say you Crew? P.S. - How great would it be if every Level 1 member responded to this post telling me to leave them be? 😁😁

@Brennan Thompson not to speak about the UX inconsistencies here... the whole activity chart thing is terrible. personal chart: fixed values community chart: dynamic values visually: identical. same look, different behavior, tsssssssstsssssss
