Been a while since I've posted here.
Over the past several months I've been putting my own advice back into practice with absolute consistency—high-intensity training, proper nutrition, recovery, and patience. The before-and-after picture I'm posting here isn't about perfection. It's simply proof that the principles still work. At 56 years old, I'm still a student of this game, and one thing remains true: the body will respond when you provide the right stimulus and respect recovery. I know there are a lot of experienced HIT guys in this community, so I'd love to hear how everyone's training has been going lately and what kind of results you've been seeing. I've also been putting out a lot of new content on my YouTube channel discussing High-Intensity Training, recovery, training after 40 and 50, and my experiences training alongside Mike Mentzer. YouTube: https://youtube.com/@highintensitycoach Mostly, I just wanted to check in, share some progress, and say hello to some fellow HIT enthusiasts. Hope everyone's doing well and still training hard. — Markus Reinhardt

Great job @Markus Reinhardt. Your content about success with high carbohydrate diets, along with John Little’s videos and reading Ellington Darden’s books, have inspired me to give “Carb 300” an honest effort. Clothes are fitting better so far and energy is way up.
Poll on Arranging Different Machines
Here is a poll for the group. If you have different machines from different lines and in different colors, do you think it matters how they are arranged in a studio? Do aesthetics matter more or workout flow? Let’s assume that a studio is not ordering brand new machines from the same manufacturer or investing in powder coating or painting existing machines to match. For argument sake, let’s also say they all have black upholstery since that is easy to either paint or replace. For reference, I have attached a photo from Strength Studio in Minnesota. I’m not sure if they’re in the group, but I think they have done a good job of combining different machines into a very professional looking space.

@Lawrence Neal great summary on the spacing and layout points. I know Luke is big on the same colors, but it’s not always feasible. Professional paint or powder coat is expensive and labor intensive. DIY is risky and could easily turn out worse than the start unless the frame is really in bad shape. I think it’s really worth asking the question if it’s absolutely necessary for a business when resources are limited and could be funneled towards other more impactful start up activities. To play devils advocate, the cheapest gym in the United States has all uniform purple frames, and nothing about their brand yells premium. I understand that uniformity is the status quo for corporate brands though.

What are his thoughts on isometric strength testing at the consultation and throughout the client journey as opposed to just showing them how much stronger they’ve gotten on the exercises? Could it potentially backfire if the client doesn’t do well on strength testing day? I think a similar follow-up question could be posed for body composition analysis. What do we do if a client has consistently gotten stronger but the machine doesn’t display an increase in LBM? Should we avoid these tests if they introduce a risk to damaging the client’s perception of success?

Nautilus One Circuit Available
I have a friend who has a set of eight black Nautilus One machines. He is asking $6,000 and can ship. I have bought machines from him before. If you or anyone you know is interested, send me a message.

@Murray Knox good to know. So you have everybody’s performance for that session on a single Google sheet? Do you have issues with people canceling or switching times and then you have to move them around to different sheets to track? Logistically, my concern with groups is moving people in and out of a singular group tracking sheet if they’re moving in between different small groups. I just purchased more clipboard so I’m going to give each of my participants a singular client card which tracks their data, but it hooks onto each machine for them to carry around during the workout. Progression will be indicated by up down or sideways arrows based on completion of the round and their input on increasing next time.
