Mid Level Sport Watch Considerations
I am really looking at getting maybe a dive watch to extend my collection and was interested in getting thoughts on mid level (high 00s to lower 1ks) as options. I am looking at the Mido Ocean Star Captain but I am open to other options. Thoughts on the Mido brand or other options. I am looking at Squale as well. Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you can push the budget the new Longines Hydroconquest is banger. The Mido you mentioned will be fine too. It's got a Powermatic 80 movement. I have a Tissot with this movement and it's very accurate. It does have a lower beat rate (3hz) which helps get that 80 hours. You'll see this movement in Swatch Group brands Tissot, Mido, Certina, Hamilton and Rado (Pretty much every brand below Longines). Personally I like the Certina's over the Midos. The Squales are also pretty nice. They have a Sellita SW-200-1, which are usually very accurate, but they only have a 38 hour power reserve. But hey have a 4hz beat rate. At the price you're looking at, make sure you're getting a Swiss Movement. Some brands might be using lower end Seiko or Miyota movements at those prices.

Overall, not too exciting from the main brands. Although, those Vacheron and Nomos are gorgeous!! What’s your favorite??

W&W Starts Tomorrow
W&W starts tomorrow and some brands are already announcing new watches. I've had a Nomos World Timer on my radar for awhile, but this white dial is the version I was hoping for. Placed tbe pre-order. ETA 4 months.

Which Hand is Which
Totally digging on this three hand Baltany Aviator. Big hand = minutes Left dial = 24-hour clock Right dial = seconds Look too long and plane crashes!🤣 This watch is the Baltany Original Design Retro Auto Watch S4098, a vintage-inspired "regulator" style timepiece known for its unique asymmetric dial layout. Key Specifications - Model: S4098 - Movement: Powered by a Miyota 82S7 automatic winding movement. - Case Dimensions: 38mm diameter, with a lug-to-lug distance of 44.2mm and a thickness of 11mm. - Case Material: Crafted from polished 316L stainless steel, available in both steel and gold finishes. - Design Details: Features 3D "butterfly-style" hands and real applied markers on the dial. The minute hand is specifically curved at the tip to reduce parallax error. Dial Layout This model is a modern interpretation of a regulator watch, which typically separates the hour, minute, and second hands into different dials: - Main Dial: Displays the minutes. - Top-Left Sub-dial: Indicates the hour (24-hour format). - Bottom-Right Sub-dial: Shows the running seconds. Have a top-notch Tuesday friends

This is pretty cool, and it does mimic the style of a regulator, although it's not one. What they did here was took a fairly standard movement with a 24 hour dial (which can be used for a night/day indicator, or 24 hour hand locked to the center hour hand), and REMOVED the hour hand, and emphasize the 24 hour hand like it's an off center (regulator) hour hand. Still a neat way to utilize this movement.
