Perspective
Looking for some perspective. I had an interview yesterday with an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) and I've had reservations since the application stage. I didn't complete the initial application because it required my Social Security and Driver's License numbers, which felt unusual. Despite that, I was still contacted, and the screening call with an outsourced recruiter went well — though the budget was too low. The recruiter is working to increase it, though it would still be on the lower end. During the interview, I learned for the first time that it's a Baptist college — something I couldn't find anywhere in my preparation. I grew up attending a Baptist church and elementary school, and I personally disagree with some of their teachings, so this gave me pause. The interview itself went well. No one was rude or unkind. However, one moment stood out — as I was being walked back to my car, the interviewer mentioned that students "are allowed music on Wednesdays." It didn't register in the moment, but later I realized the implication: that music is otherwise restricted. That subtle detail is sitting with me. Overall, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable in this environment day to day, even though nothing overtly negative happened. Am I reading too much into this because of my own past experiences?

@Ang Onorato Thanks for the perspective. I haven't told them I was pulling out I was waiting for Monday but the further I got from the interview the more that felt right. I have also accepted a short term (3-4 week) assignment starting Monday afternoon with BDO. I have an interview with another accounting firm Monday morning I'm really excited about this one. These all came together in the afternoon after I posted the initial post.
Full Disclosure on This Week's Calendar
Hello my Live Oakers, Wanted to share a quick note about this week's community offerings and the fact that I had to cancel most of them. Unfortunately I had an unexpected death very close to me and I only ever want to show up with my full focus and energy for our calls. I tried to keep a couple of the calls listed but realized it wasn't honoring the point of offering a safe and supported space for us so I opted to cancel things for the week. As I wasn't in a position to actually share why, as the week is coming to a close I wanted to let everybody know because that's what we are.... A COMMUNITY. It's been SUCH a heavy week for so many of us (for many weeks).... But all the news and the headlines going on around us I'm sure our affecting everybody as well. So I just wanted to let everybody know, that my hope is that this community is for all of us to come to and bring our full selves and everything that we're dealing with.... I'm sorry that I wasn't available fully this week. But will be back next week in full swing, and I encourage all of us to utilize this community post your thoughts, chats, insights etc. let's connect with each other! Take care of YOU...take care of others and hug those closest to you all! Much love to everyone! THANK YOU for being here!

Sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts.
What a week
This week has been a rollercoaster — and it’s only Wednesday! I started the week expecting to just schedule a follow-up interview with Company 1. Instead, I got an email asking me to book both of the remaining interviews — one for Tuesday morning and another for Wednesday morning. The Tuesday interview went great, but later that afternoon I found out that the Wednesday interview was canceled because the interviewer “had something come up, and asked to cancel for now.” Then things got interesting. A recruiter from a large recruiting firm reached out on LinkedIn for an exploratory chat. I shared my availability in the evening, and by 9 a.m. today, he confirmed a 3:30 p.m. call. Not long after, another recruiter (this time from a smaller firm) contacted me about a specific role. She said she came across my résumé — which is funny, because I had actually applied through her agency before. Still, I sent over my availability for the week. What a whirlwind already… and it’s only midweek! Whew.

Live in 1 Hour!
Hi gang. We are going LIVE at 3pm for another training. Since we had some tech issues on Monday, we will be revisiting the discussion on "Your Nervous System is Your CEO" as well as "Finding Your Leadership Voice In Your Body". See you there!

@Ang Onorato I wanted you to know as I seen the messages during the coaching which I was also on by myself and apparently so were you.
Hey My Living Oak’ers — can I ask you something?
How’s your head and your heart after this weekend? I’ve been a little quiet this past week—but for the best possible reason. I took my own medicine to hit “pause” to realign, reset, and reconnect with the deeper "why" behind everything we’re building here. Living Oak Leadership is a living breathing ecosystem. And every so often, I need to step back and make sure I’m not just teaching the work—but living it. Embodying it. Creating FROM it. The past week has been full of that fire—strategic planning with my team, deep conversations with fully aligned experts (you’ll meet them soon 😉), and major inspirational downloads from my higher self about how to serve YOU better. We’ve been mapping out new tools, new courses, partnerships, podcasts, events, and experiences that I know will help you spiral upward—more deeply, more consciously, and more supported. But before we start to roll out more of the new goodies... 💬 We want to hear from YOU. What’s on your mind right now? What’s weighing on your heart? What kind of support, space, or reflection would feel most nourishing for you this coming week and in the group? Drop us a line the Community comments. I read every word. And just as importantly—respond to each other. This is your space, your circle, your leadership watering hole. And if you haven’t already, take a few intentional minutes with the 10-Day Reset + Reboot in the CLASSROOM tab. It’s not fluff—it’s a powerful measurement & re-alignment tool to give you a clear picture where you are starting from so you can track where you are going! Big love to each of you. I can’t wait to share what’s coming. —Ang 🌳

@Ang Onorato I liked Tara mentioning taking walks. I find I am most clear when I can be moving with quiet. When I am most disturbed regardless of reason I like to take a long walk where I can just think without interruptions.
