Why You “Should” Be Cautious Of Using The Word “Should”
If you are a student of mine or if you’ve ever signed up for coaching with me you already know this lesson. Take heed: According to the Akashic Records, the word “should” is one of the most revealing words in the human language. Not because the word itself is inherently negative. But because it often reveals the relationship between reality and expectation. The Records suggest that whenever a person says “should,” they are frequently expressing one of three things: A preference. An attachment. Or a judgment. Most people are unaware of which one they are expressing. The Neutral Use Of “Should” Let’s begin here. The word itself is not the problem. For example: “You should drink water if you’re dehydrated.” This is simply practical. No spiritual distortion exists. The Records are not concerned with vocabulary. They are concerned with consciousness. The deeper question is: What energy is hiding behind the word? “Should” And Resistance To Reality The most common spiritual consequence of “should” is resistance. The moment we say: “This shouldn’t be happening.” We create conflict with what already is. Reality says: This is happening. The mind says: It shouldn’t be. Suffering is often born in the gap between those two positions. The Records frequently describe suffering as: Arguing with reality. Not because reality is always pleasant. But because reality is already here. The Hidden Judgment Many uses of “should” contain an unconscious judgment. For example: “He should know better.” “She should be more mature.” “I should be farther along by now.” Notice what is implied. A comparison between what is and what the mind believes ought to be. The judgment may be directed: Toward others. Toward life. Toward oneself. But judgment is often present. The Violence Of Self-Shoulding According to the Records, one of the most destructive forms is: “I should be different.” This is the ego attempting to improve itself through rejection. Many seekers live here. I should be more spiritual. I should be healed by now.

Evolved societies do not have prisons
Have you ever wondered how homicide would be handled on an evolved earth? Here is an interesting Akashic reading based off of that inquiry. According to the Akashic Records, the answer depends entirely on the level of consciousness of that civilization. The question itself contains an interesting paradox. If a civilization has truly reached a heavenly state, then the conditions that create homicide have largely been healed. Because homicide is usually not the result of a single action. It is the result of layers of consciousness expressing themselves through an action: Fear. Trauma. Separation. Hatred. Scarcity. Possessiveness. Powerlessness. Unhealed pain. A civilization that has genuinely transcended these patterns would produce very few circumstances in which homicide would occur at all. But let’s imagine one does occur. The Current Earth Model Much of modern Earth operates from a punishment paradigm. The question becomes: “What should happen to the person?” The focus is on consequence. The focus is often on retribution. The focus is often on protecting society from the individual. Nothing inherently wrong with this in a developing civilization, but it is rooted in a certain stage of consciousness. The Heavenly Civilization Model According to the Records, a highly evolved civilization asks a different question: “What happened within this being that made this action possible?” Notice the shift. The focus moves from punishment to understanding. Not because the action is ignored. Not because there is no accountability. But because the civilization understands that behavior is an expression of consciousness. The act is addressed. The root is addressed. The soul is addressed. Accountability Still Exists One misconception is that a heavenly civilization would simply say: “Everything is love.” “Do whatever you want.” The Records suggest the opposite. Highly evolved civilizations often have more accountability, not less. But accountability is aimed toward restoration rather than punishment.

I think it's a great concept. Maybe we should start adopting some of these principles in our own homes. I grew up in a household where corporal punishment was used, and it helped keep us disciplined and aligned with what was expected of us in terms of behavior and responsibility. I didn't view it as harmful, and I later used a similar approach myself. That said, I've also tried several other parenting strategies that weren't very effective for my family. It makes me wonder whether implementing some of these newer principles could help address some of the challenges we see in society today. Could a balance of structure, accountability, and positive guidance produce better outcomes for future generations?
