My babies arrived!
I’m FINALLY a chicken mama! After a long wait my babies came today…the only sad thing is, they didn’t all make it through the journey here. But, I have 8 healthy chicks right now and they are adorable! I can’t wait to watch them grow and get to know their personalities 😊

@Carrie Meade get chick grit and add a little to the food, that usually keeps their little butts clean - it's very fine like sand. Also, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning for good measure. Welcome to the club! You'll know you're in deep when you order the chicken tees, have chicken slippers, chicken boots, etc.
How often do you really clean the coop? 😅
No shame. We’re among friends.

Weekly, unless the number of chickens per coop gets off. When just a few extra go in a coop it seems to double the poop.

Nesting boxes weekly or more, the coop no set schedule.

@Jared Latigo meanest one I've ever owned was a bantam old English rooster. He would hide and then launch into an attack. He jumped in the back of my brother's truck and wasn't noticed until down the road. My brother stopped and tried to get him in the front to bring him back, but he flew off, never been so happy to lose a chicken....

@Sharon Lee I usually name them if there is a personality that seems to fit the name to the chick, but my buff orpingtons, all sweet and fluffy, are Buffy 1, Buffy 2 and so on. I can't tell them apart, no coloring difference, or personality. I have eight, and as a pack they're the Buffy gang. I have two turkeys that will jump in any open vehicles and act like they are going cross country, Thelma and Louise. My bantam cochins are all named after batman characters, and there are lots of them, the hens go broody quite often. I would say about 50% of the hens are named, all of the roosters have names :)
How’s the weather where you are?
We got 14 eggs for the first time in forever the other day. Now getting a decent amount since the weather has warmed a tad. Much better than the 1-2 we were getting! Def looking forward to more spring weather and it’s warming up quick here in Texas. Hope you’re all starting to see some spring come your way!

It's been in the 70s-80s here, getting lots of eggs!
Drop your favorite chicken treat that isn’t the obvious stuff.
