Stillness...
Something I often have to remind women of is that you don’t need to feel guilty for sitting down and doing nothing. Especially when your body is already dealing with health issues. We are constantly stimulated. Our phones are nearby, messages are coming through, people can reach us at any moment, there’s noise around us and there always seems to be something we should be doing. So actually sitting down and purposefully doing nothing is quite a unique thing these days. The quiet. The stillness. The lack of stimulation. Sometimes that is exactly the space your body needs to settle and allow healing to happen. So don’t underestimate those moments where you’re doing… absolutely nothing. How comfortable are you with stillness, and do you notice a difference in how your body feels when you give yourself more of it?

I start most mornings with a quiet meditation and stretch but even then my mind is racing thinking of all the things that need to get sorted and I am keeping an eye on the time - I have to keep pulling myself back into the moment so it's definitely a work in progress! I feel like it's more difficult for woman than men to switch off ... but maybe not?

@Naturopathic coach Kelli hahahah that sounds very plausible 😂 Good idea with the phone call - I’ll give that a try!

I think a lot of my overwhelm comes when life gets hectic - keeping on top of 'eating healthy' can become just another thing on the to-do list. I often forget to eat and then am so hungry I'll just eat whatever to stay alive! Lol Usually we don't have anything too evil in the house but it may be a peanut butter sandwich instead of a salad for example - not a train smash but one stressful day becomes two, then three and before I know it it a week of peanut butter sandwiches! Or my favourite - oats for dinner 😂
Not hungry in the morning?
If breakfast feels like the last thing you want in the morning, don't automatically assume your body simply "doesn't need food". We are here to help you understand your body so here are a few reasons your morning appetite may be low: Eating habits - Eating too late: A large or heavy dinner can mean your digestive system is still working in the morning. Stress & mental wellbeing - Stress: When you're in a heightened stress state, your body prioritises the "fight or flight" response over digestion and appetite. - Low mood, anxiety, ADHD: All these conditions can reduce appetite and interest in food. Sleep & lifestyle - Poor sleep: Inadequate or disrupted sleep can affect the hormones involved in hunger and appetite. - Dehydration: Being dehydrated when you wake can sometimes leave you feeling a little nauseous or "off" rather than hungry. Digestive health: - Reflux, bloating, nausea or sluggish digestion/slow metabolism can make eating first thing in the morning unappealing. This is perhaps the most common reason that I see. Medications - Many medications can reduce appetite or cause nausea as a side effect. If this is something you experience regularly, please take it as a sign to look into it rather than simply accepting it as normal for you. Your body is giving you information, and it's worth asking why your hunger signal is so quiet. Are you more stressed out and you should try to manage it better, have you started eating too late, are you hydrated enough, is the digestion just slow? You don't necessarily need to force down a huge breakfast. But ignoring a consistently poor appetite isn't the answer either. A simple place to start: 1. Have at least 200 mL of warm water when you wake, with a little apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice. This can help wake up your digestive system and get digestive secretions going. If you don't tolerate ACV or lemon juice, just have the warm water on its own. 2. Start with small breakfast, something you will enjoy, easy to get down but try to avoid sugary options (like a bowl of typical breakfast cereal or toast with honey).

I looooove breakfast! My favourite meal and time of the day 😃
Breakfast check in!
Let’s do a quick check-in... First of all, are we actually eating breakfast? And secondly, are we making an effort to get some good protein in? I know this is such an important step for my own day. When I have a proper breakfast with enough protein, I notice such a difference in my energy. I work from home and I need to stay focused and productive, and I’m not sitting there thinking about snacks when lunchtime is still hours away. And I know how easy it is to start something well, keep it going for a few weeks, and then slowly start forgetting about it. It’s completely human. Life gets busy, routines change, and suddenly the good habits we were doing without thinking start slipping away. So if that’s you, take this as a little reminder rather than something to feel guilty about. You can simply start again tomorrow. It doesn’t have to be complicated - few eggs, adding protein powder, some healthy ham or even dinner leftovers. It really does shape your day. So, let’s check in: What did you have for breakfast today? Did you eat breakfast at all? And bonus question...where was the protein?

So will these help for seasonal allergies? Is that what you mean when you say lower histamine?
