I’ve been fighting an ear infection all week, started with hearing everything down a semitone in one ear (yuck!), however as the week went on, the strange pitch shift died down and I had a go learning the Bach Prelude from his 2nd cello suite, BWV 1008. The best guitar versions I’ve heard of this piece lately reminded me the importance of being able to play single lines beautifully, being able to drive the changing harmony through phrasing alone of a single line with minimal bass notes throughout. I decided to put the cameras and mics up to capture my progress after just a few days of work, though I’d like much more time to let this movement sink into my core, get away from the notes on the page and feel more free to express myself musically. Adam and I had a lovely time yesterday at Scottish Luthier Pete Beer’s workshop. We had an interesting chat with him and played his beautiful instruments. Will be sharing the footage with you all soon!

I’ve completed another piece. This one’s called “Autumn Dance.”

I find that the quality of my nails has changed as I’ve aged (72 yo) and it is often difficult for me to make a good sound. That is one of the reasons I’ve started composing. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good nail conditioner?
