Post your favorite Narrator!
In 2008 or so, I was sitting in a coffee shop near Fort Riley, Kansas trying to forget about work, and I heard Kenneth Branagh read The Magician's Nephew. I decided right there that one day I would become a voice actor (It didn't happen for nearly 10 years, but that's where I decided it) Here's an excerpt from Chapter 1 of that book. I encourage you to take a listen to a moment of two of it, and identify some stuff that you like then try to apply it to your reads. I love how he reads effortlessly. He inflection is very nuanced and not distracting at all. Also, when he voices children or women, he just "puts some air under it" but doesn't overdo it to the point of pulling you out of the story. Also, I like how he takes his time with his pacing. This helps you keep pace with what's going on, and allows it to "register" in your mind. Please post a narrator that you like so we can all take a listen and learn!

I'm not certain I've listed to enough different narrators to decide on a "favorite", but I'm been listening to a lot of Sanderson's Cosmere, which is mostly read by Michael Kramer, so he's probably the biggest influence on my style.
Got a Book
Got my next ACX project! This is the first one I've gotten that has character voices and isn't straight narration. I'd love to hear everyone's tips for planning and keeping the different characters distinctive.
Last Saturday's Video Call
Here's a link to last Saturday's call. I know weekends are really busy for some, but would anyone be open for a future Saturday call where we do practice, etc? (Here's a link to the video where @Brittany Barry and @David Martin did some scenes from Much Ado About Nothing https://youtu.be/I6LuUAWVIOk)

Saturdays are typically a 50/50 for me, no real consistent pattern which days or times I'm available though.

New mic came in
Some good news, my new microphone finally came in! Unfortunately, I'm getting a lot of static upon plugging it in and trying to record, any recommendations on troubleshooting? Edit: Turns out I forgot to install the drivers for the Focusrite interface. There is still some static, but MUCH less than there was.

I think it was a mix of having the gain to high and cable interference. Turning the gain all the way down and moving the XLR cable as far from the interface as possible has removed the bulk of the static.

@Bethany Baldwin I've used a couple different C cables and a few different ports, some ports are different better, but none completely resolve the issue. I'll get my hands on some extra XLR cables tomorrow so test as well.
