Debate on the Weaponized Incompetence video
Last night I posted a video about how I believe Weaponized Incompetence is an over-used somewhat often in-accurate term as I think often times we need to improve the way we are articulating our conversations about these things. I made a follow up video to have some nuanced conversation that I think is perfect for discourse in this community. I think the impact of these kinds of actions is really heavy for a lot of the women and many felt unseen in my analysis of the use of the word as it disregarded their experience of continued invalidation of invisible labor. This community is meant for us to come to the table and have tough conversations in here and be a safe space for people to have debate and understanding of each other.

See I’ll be honest when my partner uses the words “weaponized incompetence “ I do immediately get defensive because it does feel more of an attack than a way of her conveying that I’m being selfishly negligent. It does sound more of a general criticism than a attack; I’ll be honest about something else I have been very selfish over these last few months and that has built up her I feel resentment towards me. It is my fault for not doing the things I said I was going to do yes, at the same time though using words like “weaponized incompetence “ triggers me into being defensive because when I do things that count as such they’re never intentional but I get how it can be perceived as it was.

I’ll also be honest about something else pertaining to this topic, whenever I hear these words used my brain automatically just goes to anger rather than understanding.
