Software recommendations
Hey y’all (that’s what we say in the south🤣). Any recommendations for free software to use for a “live”?
For Skoolers first
I thought I'd let you in on my trip I'm on. I wanted to see the Sphere in Las Vegas so here I am! Not a gambler but was thinking of doing a Texas Holdem tournament --but nixed that idea. Will tell why probably in the video. Although, telling the story is really challenging! What and how do i film??! Been here a day and guess how many vids I've done? 0-zilch-NADA I have 1.5 days to get it done ✅

@L T Wow, thank you! That was sweet. Sometimes after I hit “publish” I think, “well, even if no one watches it’s out there for my grandkids to see after I’m dead and buried “🤣 Thanks for the encouragement!

@L T thank you! That means a lot!
What are your challenges?
I know I am posting like a maniac here, but I wanted to ask what in your YouTube journey are the biggest challenges you face? maybe we can help each other. Mine are: Hating the way I look on camera and how I can't sit still etc. I am AUDHD and until I saw myself on playback I had no idea how much I fidget, the weird faces I pull, my stimming! I really do look a bit freaky. I think having a prop helps, but it is why I have only ever done one "talk to the camera" style video. My other main challenge is working out tech stuff like lighting and sound. I know I have to get a camera as my old iPhone one is broken and as the phone is 5 years old, I will probably upgrade at some point. It only has one working lens which makes video hard unless very fixed in place. Then there is lighting, need to sort that, but audio has been a biggie. I have big rooms in my house with very high ceilings and wooden floors and the echo is awful! Also little people running around and all the noises get picked up. So can we share our challenges and hang ups? Thank you, if I haven't been banned by now for spamming !!! Bobby

How about trying a walk n’ talk around your property or somewhere with an interesting (but not too distracting) backdrop? That’d solve your lighting issue and as long as you have a halfway decent mic you’re good to go!

@Karen Taylor Yes! I enjoy watching videos shot outdoors. Love checking out the scenery 😉
Ay up boomers!
I am a late boomer, and I reckon we rock! We definitely had the best music when I was growing up in the 70's, and then the 80's and listening to my Mum's stuff as a little thing in the 60's was cool too! I still remember the songs I would hear when I was still in a cot, waking up in the mornings and listening to her transistor radio in the background. Anyway, I ramble a lot, so yeah. I only discovered Skool 2 weeks ago and joined a community called YouTube Over 40, and that is how I discovered Fil and What's Up Boomer, and I loved it, so here I am. I am Bobby btw, the LT was a random typo mistake I made setting up the account in a rush.

The memories are awesome, huh? I am so like my dad when he used to say “25 years ago…” I would say, “Dad, dinosaurs roamed the earth then!” Now, here I am saying “25 years ago…” But wait, that was the year 2000. What the hell happened? That’s 25 years ago?😵🤣

I think I have found a HOW to use Skool for my community. And I think you (and I) will enjoy it. I have posted the first Course up ... content to follow. In the mean time, be sure to join the group and read/post your questions or shares in this Community discussion board. My class is open for all. This isn’t a polished how-to course — it’s a real, ongoing chronicle of building a YouTube channel. Each month I’ll share the behind-the-scenes journey of ‘What’s Up Boomer.' The wins, the stumbles, income updates, algorithm experiments, and lessons learned. But this isn’t just my story. You’ll be invited to track your own channel’s milestones. We'll commiserate over the struggles, and celebrate the breakthroughs together. Think of it as a shared YouTube logbook. My journey is the anchor, but we’re all writing chapters. And I look forward to hearing about your progress shared here. Or maybe on your own account. I will be posting story content on the starting of the channel and then after catching up on the past 10 months, you can expect a monthly update.

I’m a couple of decades past 40 with wisdom, experience, encouragement and humor to share. My go-to format is walk n’ talk, preferably on the beach!
