First Video Posting in Classroom next week!

Software recommendations
Hey y’all (that’s what we say in the south🤣). Any recommendations for free software to use for a “live”?

I have been learning OBS, it is free, seems to be very well reviewed and widely used, lots of helpful stuff on YT, and you can use it as a recording studio too! Kevin Kolbe recommends Riverside, but I haven't looked at that.

I am very new Fil, so I haven't done any live stuff, it is a mystery to me! Does the YouTube live feature allow you to record video too? As in not for a live but a normal video?

Check everything!
I made a video yesterday, and I edited it in DaVinci and uploaded it. When I say edited it, I just cut out the beginning which was just setting up. When I checked it on YT before I made it public (a new trick I learned!!), it was awful, really pixelated. I had used DaVincis default settings so couldn't work out where I went wrong. I checked my phone and it appears that somehow the video record setting had been turned to the lowest! I am not sure how long this has been the case or how it happened, but I have learned a new lesson, check everything!

Capcut is expensive, thats the thing, and I am not keen on subscription models, I know it has bells and whistles though. I know DaVinci is a learning curve but it is powerful and free for most of it, it does have YouTube settings, I think my phone is at fault and this user lol! My daughter used Capcut I think, I will maybe see if they do a family sub to try it! Thanks Fil!

@Karen Taylor Oh yeah! And I check the phone every time. But I gotta accept that my camera is just too broken. I will look at the cost of replacing it but for a 5 year old phone it may not be worthwhile.

For Skoolers first
I thought I'd let you in on my trip I'm on. I wanted to see the Sphere in Las Vegas so here I am! Not a gambler but was thinking of doing a Texas Holdem tournament --but nixed that idea. Will tell why probably in the video. Although, telling the story is really challenging! What and how do i film??! Been here a day and guess how many vids I've done? 0-zilch-NADA I have 1.5 days to get it done ✅

I made a video yesterday which failed, but I was talking about community and how to me it is the most important thing about YouTube. This was demonstrated when after an absence of several years I made two videos and had lovely comments from people who had followed me way back. That they were still there was so humbling. It was the sense of community that brought me back to YouTube and I am so glad to have found it here too, in these small Skool communities.

I added a new tab - Your YouTube Channel. So when you are adding a new comment, you will see a SELECT A CATEGORY option. This will organize all the comments sharing our channel links 🔗 in one thread.
