Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄
I finally found enough signal to send this out! We’ve been spending Christmas week deep in my wife’s village where there is absolutely no cell service or internet. It’s been amazing to completely unplug, and I was even able to bring my mum along for the trip. I’m posting a few photos of our time off the grid below. Now that I’m reconnected... what is everyone doing for their Christmas?

Merry Christmas from a hot but fun Pattaya!
End of an era in Thailand?
I’m filming a video about how Thailand has changed over the last 10 years, and I want your take. We all know the price of a beer has gone up, but I’m talking about the vibe. For those of you who have been here a while... What is the single biggest change you've noticed in Thailand since you first arrived? Is it the visa rules? The type of expats arriving? Or did it just lose that "wild west" feeling? Let me know in the comments.

The vibe is still there if you know where to go and how to behave. The problem that a lot of people now see is the old stamping grounds have had their demographics irrevocably changed/destroyed. Bus loads of gawpers slowly clogging Pattaya Walking street did nothing to help. This killed the vibe so Soi Diamond was the last bastion of the true fun house in that part of the city. Now you need to go Soi 7, 8 and Buakhao... As the old guard of visitors die (literally) there was a new generation following who are not into the true adventure that made my first 20 odd trips what they were. People I first met 20 years ago still meet up at the same bars, same time of year and catch up. The number dwindles as does the ability to party. Many, like me, no longer drink. So feeling that buzz that moved the vibe needle has gone. The older you get, the earlier 'late' becomes! With money, my first trip November 2005 had £1 to 75 THB. Beers in Soi 2 were 40 THB. The hotel I go to tomorrow in Pattaya has not changed their price for 20 years, however my GBP has shrunk to 41...nearly doubling the true cost to me. Bangkok is similar, but NaNa will always be NaNa. The rapid gentrification of some areas has removed that gritty friendly vibe that was the pith of life there. Fortunately BKK is still a place that holds its own as far as living life is concerned...in my humble opinion. Finding the vibe is - up to you (sorry!) Having spent a lot of time in Vietnam this year, although I love it, there is never going to be a place like Thailand. Stepping out the plane and smelling the warm air and seeing the first smiles brings that buzz right back from my first trip over. And now I call it home. Just my 2p.
I’m back (quick update)
Yo! I know I’ve been quiet in here the last couple of months. I promise I haven’t been ignoring you guys. Truth is, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the direction of this group and what actually helps you guys get here. For years, I’ve focused heavily on "building online businesses." And while that’s still valid, I realised something over the past year or so... Most of you don't necessarily want a new business. You just want to be in Thailand. And you want to get here by doing less, not more. So I’ve been heads-down the last 10 weeks or so building something that focuses on that side of things... Investing, leveraging what you have, and making the math work without needing to grind 14 hours a day. That brings me to this beast... It’s the ultimate "Exit Planning" software I’ve been building. You can watch the breakdown below to see exactly how it works. I’ve just opened up a handful of slots on my calendar for this month to run through these plans 1-on-1. I’m posting it in here first to give you guys first refusal before I email the main list. If you want to grab a spot, click here to book your strategy session. Also keep an eye on the Calendar tab. I’ve got some new community meetings planned, and I’ll be back on YouTube very soon with some fresh content. Good to be back. 🫡

I think that in my case its been a corporate grind for 40+ years so starting a full scale 40+ hour a week business is a pain. However, a simple, easy to run income earner that keeps the belly full and roof over is more the target...just my 2 cents. My opinion will vary to most, so I get it.
I Built a Free App for Thailand Retirees... 👀
I just built this cool app for people looking to retire in Thailand. It'll tell you how much money you could save vs living in the UK. https://tools.brettdev.com/retirement-calculator It's still just a rough draft but give it a spin and leave your feedback in the comments below 👇🏻
