@Craig Means g'day craig as sifu sing talked about taking someones balance or loading them to take away their posture by folding maybe wrist then elbow to load up the hip to break their structure or unfolding which can extend the elbow or knee or any joint or 'crease' someone is a lot more vulnerable to a load or impact when their structure is compromised the principle of caging is a good example slip to side one hand on lower back the other controls the king /head hand on forehead both pushing inwards and down bending the back in this position an impact would be devastating these are just methods to explore train the technique to understand the principle then forget the technique and make movement your own i go off in a tangent sometimes just fold the creases you can even do it on yourself

@Craig Means give a man a fish feed him for a day teach a person how to fish well you get the rest understand the many ways to apply your tools of the trade eg jodan uke labeling the movement limits it, doesn't mean upper block uke means response or to receive and its use whether circular or direct /linear opens to more functional applications we use 2 hands with this movement 1 usually pulling /parrying the other maybe pushing /impact when the pulling hand grabs tricep or bicep area the fleshy stuff rolling it up in our fingers just the same way we make a fist crushing the flesh in our fingers its more controlling combining walking techniques trapping the foot with foot applying knee pressure to lock out the knee, these tools must be trained over and over individually and your own version that suits your skill level at the moment and may change as your skill level increases but you must explore to develop many of my students have different versions of the same thing but it is what works for them
Things to keep in mind

Before the full course release, we’re hosting a FREE live online seminar with Jay Cooper of Reality Check called: Too Close For Comfort This seminar focuses on one of the most common and dangerous situations in self-defense — when someone gets inside your personal space and past your comfort zone. Jay will break down practical strategies, mindset, and techniques to help you: • Recognize and manage close-range confrontations • Respond confidently under pressure • Avoid getting trapped in compromised situations • Improve your self-defense awareness and options Whether you're a beginner or an experienced martial artist, this seminar will give you tools you can apply immediately. Jay brings real-world experience from years in policing and martial arts instruction, and his ability to make complex ideas simple, practical, and even fun to learn makes him one of our favorite people to train with. 📅 Free Live Seminar Saturday, February 21 11:00 AM Mountain Standard Time Live online for Budo Brothers Academy members.
