Putting out comedy energy in the audience
I went to see a clown show today in a space I have never been in. I didn’t know anybody in the theatre, never heard of the clown. It was in Spanish, a language I am proficient but not fluent in. But it was 7 bucks, i somehow found it, and I was like what the heck. I sat in the middle of the room in the first row of chairs (there was some floor seating on cushions as well) It was a one woman clown show, and started off really strong, but devolved a little when she got half the audience to sing one song, and half to sing the other. i am sitting in the middle of the room, but somehow I get called onto sing a solo (!), get picked on two or three more times, and yeah, I got pulled onto the stage one more time. At the end of the show she thanked me for playing along, and said, “Well, you are clearly a performer…”. I was happy to do so, but that’s not why I was there. Do you guys often get picked to be a volunteer by people who don’t know you are a performer? If you are picking, are you looking for someone to pick that’s funny? Do you have a criteria for picking?
