Why Should I speak for free? 🎤 By Danielle Drew
I was just reading this post over in the amazing Danielle Drews community "Public Speaking - Vocal Power", and I needed to share it with all of you here because this is gold from a lady that seriously knows her stuff. This is one of the most common questions I get.....and I understand.... Your Ego Wants Payment. But... Event Organisers Want Proof The key here is understanding this ...𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮. The skill is learning to recognise the currency. The most valuable things a stage gives you never show up on an invoice. They are... ✅ Proof: the assets. Video clips, photos, and testimonials that show you deliver. ✅ Prospects: the connections with people in the audience who may want to work with you. ✅ Partners: meeting organisers and influential people who can refer you to bigger stages. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒇, 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔. When you're starting out, take the chamber breakfast, the local association, the small podcast. Every stage is reps. It's how you sharpen your message, find your stories, and start building the proof that event organisers want to see. 𝐀𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. Once you have strong proof and credibility, you can start choosing free gigs based on who's in the room and which of the three P's they're most likely to deliver. 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑝𝑢𝑧𝑧𝑙𝑒 𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑐𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑠 𝑛𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑤𝑛. 𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑎 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 In September I spoke at the 80th anniversary of our local Rural Fire Brigade. I didn't do it for exposure or leads. I did it because it was a chance to give back to people who serve our community. However I ended up meeting several high-profile politicians who were there to honour the brigade. Partners I never would have met if I'd only said yes to "strategic" gigs. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

A clever thing Danielle Drew did with her paid community during a live event
@Danielle Drew from Public Speaking - Vocal Power presented in my community yesterday, and it was fantastic, but the bit that stuck with me happened outside the call itself. For the duration of the presentation, she switched her paid community over to free. Anyone who watched could join there and then without hitting a payment wall. Once the call finished, she switched it straight back to paid. I thought that was smart. The moment right after someone's watched you teach for 45 minutes is the moment they're most likely to want more of you, and that's usually the moment a price tag gets in the way. Removing it for a couple of hours means people join on the strength of what they've just seen rather than on a decision they need to sleep on. You end up with members who already know your voice, already trust you, and already have context for what's inside. It also gives you a clean way to measure whether the presentation actually landed. Joins during the window tell you something that a chat full of nice comments doesn't. If you own a paid community and you're running events, this is worth trying. Announce it at the start of the call so people know the window exists, drop the link in the chat, and set a clear cut-off so there's a reason to act rather than bookmark it for later. Then flip it back and welcome the new members in properly. Small change, no cost, and it turns a presentation into an actual entry point. Has anyone else here tried opening their paid community up during a live event, and if so how did it go?

@Chris Hanlon Depending on how you deliver the talk and the value you provide, it's been super successful for me.
🔥 ONE TO WATCH TOMORROW — THE SPEAKER’S EDGE MASTERCLASS
I have to say I cannot recommend enough that you get to this event. I’ve just had the loveliest conversation with Danielle Drew, who is running tomorrow’s Speaker’s Edge Masterclass with our very own Des Drekett. And I have to say, Danielle is absolutely lovely and she really knows her stuff when it comes to using speaking to grow your business. Danielle went from being terrified of public speaking herself to speaking internationally on stage, online and on camera. Now she helps business owners use speaking as an actual growth channel, not simply something you do once, feel rather pleased with yourself about, and then wonder what happened to everybody afterwards. 😂 And her client results are pretty impressive. One client secured $1.2 million from one talk, another generated a $77,997 launch from a 45-minute workshop, and another converted 13 out of 20 attendees into warm leads. Tomorrow, Danielle and Des will be looking at how you can turn your expertise into authority, hold the attention of your audience and move listeners towards becoming qualified prospects, without all the pitching and chasing. And THAT is particularly interesting to me. Because we talk a lot here at Skool Events Daily about getting people to your events, but what happens once you've actually got them there matters just as much. 📅 Tuesday, 8th September ⏰ 3pm–4pm New York time You can find Danielle and her details here You can attend the event through this link. If speaking, workshops, masterclasses or presentations are part of how you grow your business, this could be a very useful hour to spend tomorrow. 🔥

🔥 𝗠𝗬 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗧𝗜𝗣: 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠
At our first Coffee, Chat & Collab, we all shared an event tip that others could go away and try. Mine was a really simple one. 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. Don’t just put your event in the calendar, write a post about it and then sit there hoping everyone spots it. They probably won’t. People are busy. They miss posts. They forget what they saw yesterday. And sometimes they fully intend to come to something and then completely forget about it. 😂 So when I have an event coming up, I message as many members as I reasonably can and send them the 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸. Not a huge sales pitch. Just a friendly personal invitation letting them know what’s happening and giving them an easy way to join. Because there’s quite a difference between someone scrolling past: “𝗜’𝗺 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆.” …and receiving: “𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝘀𝗼 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.” One is an announcement. The other feels like an invitation. And if you want people at your event, sometimes you need to stop waiting for them to find it… 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. ☕🔥 Have you tried personally inviting your members to your events?

What a great idea! Thank you for sharing this .
🎤 Fancy Being Interviewed About Your Event?
I’m going to be trialling something new for members who have an event coming up — short, informal interviews all about you and your event. The idea is to give you a bit more space to talk about what you’ve got coming up, what people can expect, who it’s for and why they might want to join you. But there’s another reason I want to try this. Sometimes a post or event description only tells you so much. Actually seeing and hearing the person behind the event gives people a chance to get a feel for your energy, your personality and whether they feel they align with you. We’ll start by sharing the interviews here in Skool Events Daily and, if they work well, we’ll look at featuring them on our website and possibly our YouTube channel too — giving your event even more visibility. Nothing long or complicated. Just a short chat about you and what you’ve got coming up. So… who’s in? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ Who has an event coming up and would like to be one of the first to give this a go? Pop your hand up below 👇
