Week 1 Challenge 🎙️
Every week, I’ll post a short text for you to read out loud and record yourself. This is one of the best ways to improve your pronunciation because it helps you notice your mistakes and track your progress over time. Here’s how it works: 1. Read the text out loud and record yourself. Don’t overthink it; just do your best! 2. Upload your recording in the comments so you can get personalized feedback. 3. Only after you’ve recorded yourself, listen to my audio. Think of it as an answer key. Compare your pronunciation, rhythm, stress, and intonation with mine. 💡 Pro tip: Save your recording! In 3 or 4 weeks, record yourself reading the exact same text again. You’ll be surprised by how much you’ve improved.

@Mackenzie Marino I didn't study for very long time. I took private lessons for six months many years ago. Most of what I learned came from whatching movies and playing videogames when I was younger, hahaha, i feel like I have a aptitude for learning english, but I need to dedicate myself more to it. That's why I joined the community. Thanks for created the community!

What Truly Helped You Learn a Second Language?
Everyone’s language-learning journey is different, and we can all learn from each other. What made the biggest difference for you when learning a second language? For me, it was two things. First, total immersion:making American friends, joining communities, consuming content in English, and making the language part of my everyday life instead of just something I studied. Second, a technique called shadowing. It’s where you imitate native speakers as closely as possible whether it’s movie scenes, interviews, podcasts, or even singers. I actually still do it to this day. Sometimes I probably look a little crazy talking to myself in the mirror… but it works. 😄

Immigrants who love America 🇺🇸🫡🫶🏻 (Share Your Story)
This is one of my favorite spaces in the community. I’d love for you to share your story. Tell us where you’re from, why you came to the United States, and why you’re proud to call America home today. This is a great opportunity to practice your English while also allowing Americans to hear real success stories from immigrants who love, respect, and appreciate this country just as much as they do. In today’s political climate, one thing I always say is this: if you’re an immigrant who loves America, don’t stay silent. Be loud. Speak up. Too often, the loudest voices end up shaping how immigrants are perceived. But the truth is, there are countless immigrants who are deeply grateful for the opportunities they’ve found here and who genuinely love this country. Your story matters. Your voice matters. I can’t think of a better place for us to share those stories than right here.
