💓MOVEMENT MOJO!💓
YOU don't need to be the expert! All you need is the VISION of the MOVEMENT! But dude? What exactly is a movement? It is a CHANGE you want to see in the world... ...even if the change is SMALL In fact... a SMALL MOVEMENT feels doable! (I'm not against big missions, but I like to start with small ones first.) A SMALL MOVEMENT = CHANGE + DIFFERENT + DESIRABLE OUTCOME Something must be done DIFFERENTLY and the OUTCOME must be DESIRABLE to people. Now... You might be thinking? "Damn, Sago! Is that all? 😀How in the heck do I come up with that? It sounds easier to dump a bunch of content into my community!" I feel ya. I'm going to make this MUCH SIMPLER for you. This will be a huge advantage. Do ya know why? NOBODY wants to share "more content", but they do want to share a MOVEMENT that is different and has a desirable outcome for people they care about. This helps your community GROW all by itself. It also means you can BRING IN experts, content and ALL the things you need for a community WITHOUT needing to do it YOURSELF! They WANT to be part of a MOVEMENT! So... Let's break this baby down and make it simple. This has worked super well for me. Take an OUTCOME you KNOW other people WANT... Find out WHAT THEY HATE about "how to get there" and make your movement about a DIFFERENT PATH TO GET THERE... Using one or more of the following OUTCOME MODIFIERS: Who, What, When, Where, Why and/or How Let me use an example from one of our Flames: @Jeff Teegarden He is a truck driver. I also know he wants to make an income off the road. So the outcome = income That is a "mission" because it's a goal and tangible. Now we need to turn it into a MOVEMENT: 🚚Who? We can change the WHO. In this case, TRUCK DRIVERS would be Spock logical. A community for Truck Drivers who want to create income off the road sounds pretty good to me. ...EVEN IF that was the only modifier. Now... Jeff doesn't NEED TO KNOW HOW or EVEN HAVE DONE IT HIMSELF.

For me the FIRE movement is about creating digital microcommunity around a mission you value, filled with people you want to hang out with and serve, so you can stop trading time for money. Now, to narrow that down...

Heads up... If you're not following or bidding in the live auction in Royalty Ronin right now... And you wish to serve no master hereforth... You might want to check it out and jump in. Because it is eye opening to say the least. I just got outbid for a serious amount... on a product that is beyond worth the investment at almost any price. Which was eye opening on its own. But the big "aha moment" for me... is realizing people are *publicly announcing* what they are willing to pay, so... Note to self... THINK: "DMs AFTER the auction..."

And its all about offering true, real, honest value. I can't imagine this working well for long with low-value"prahdukts". but with obvious value/asymmetrical ROI, its a no-brainer. Another aha for me: auctions let the market vote instantly. That's an instant ROI on its own for the auction holder, regardless of money collected...
Mixing Mojo with preexisting groups
Question for the rapid FIRE folks... if you found a preexisting community with an expert and you wanted to partner without eatng from their pie, you could bake a new pie with your community, right? So, if their community was for, say, "men over 50", but their expertise would also help "Ronin over 50"... you could license their repurposed materials for your community..."new money from old courses style". Or, "rent" them access as a guest teacher, handing them bolt on revenue. Both sides look good, everyone wins. Plus, their growing parade members might be a good feedr for your community if they're complimentary. "Hey I've got a community of 500 peeps with this xyz movement who want to know xyz... and it with your xyz mojo it would be a sin not to have you there. can I pay you to xyz?" Something like that? And thats just a few plays and partner possibilities of many, many... Am I thinking clearly?

Selling the MISSION = $1.2M in 18 months
Let's kickstart this campfire with some Mission MOJO because Uncle Sago is speaking our language here... We've (my twin bro and I) been in the digital marketing minefield since the age of 18 (35 now), so we've taken our share of beatings. It wasn't until we got fired from our biggest client and lost almost all our MRR that we had a rock bottom realization that we couldn't keep trying to get better at marketing... we had to figure out how to make our clients more marketable. Since marketing changes all the damn time, there's one variable in the equation that never has... The brain inside the buyer 🧠 So we started studying cults, cult brands, movements, and tribal psychology to understand not just what makes humans want to buy something... But BUY-IN to something so they actually engage, get results, and keep paying us so we don't have to keep chasing buyers. The secret Uncle Sago is sharing in here is the same principle we've been using to build cult-like communities over the last 7 years... You can't make people want to buy... (people don't want more homework) But you CAN make them want to BELONG. (this is an existential human need) So that's why a shared MISSION is so critical to a community because that's what your members are buying into... That's how you get psychological buy-in so they're willing to pay to join your community... That's how you get community engagement by indoctrinating them into this mission so they drink the Kool-Aid... That's how you get long-term retention by turning lurkers into lifers because they feel a deep sense of belonging that they can't get anywhere else. Uncle Sago is a G at building mission-based communities... But most common communities struggle because they don't know this stuff so they do what everyone else does... Sell the components of the community. If you look at most Skool pages, it's like a grocery list of courses and content they get access to inside the community. But nobody wants more INFORMATION...
