What is 1 Thing Your Mother Taught You That You Use or Do in Your Life Now?
I know many of us have been working on breaking away from a lot of the ineffective parenting practices that our moms did. But what are those things that she did well that you use and that youāve taught your child? For me, itās saying I love you. It used to be hard for me to say I love you because of the strained relationship that my mom and I had. She would say she loved me, yet exhibited behavior of the contrary. Meanwhile, my Nana would show her love, but would NEVER say itā¦like ever š© The words āI love youā were such a conundrum for me, and I needed to heal. I had to tell myself that I could say AND show love. It didnāt have to be one or the other. I had to take what I learned from being raised by my mom and my Nana and make love make sense. I consciously decided I would tell my son I love him everyday and of course show it too. But I didnāt want to do more to compensate for not being able to say it as he got older. Im glad that my mom taught me the power of those three words. My son is 17 and we say āI Love Youā every day. I may say it first or he may say it first. He says is before he leaves the house, before bed, and even in front of friends. For that I am grateful šš¾š What is 1 Thing Your Mother Taught You That You Use or Do in Your Life Now?
