Weaves with Vito
I’ve been thinking of how I can improve Louie’s ability to go to weave entries. I thought about approaching it from a Vito’s game perspective. This is our first attempt. I also but the guides back in place to see if I can get him confident enough for some speed. I’m also leading him a lot more than I should for Vito’s game. But I think it’s too much of a stretch to get him to figure it out without some help.

@Brenna Fender I have done that many times. Dehydrated Cheddar is great for this. I have gone through many a box of cheddar cheerios! In this above case I was simply at the end of the day, not planning on training. I was staring out my porch window and had a brain fart that it might work. Good ideas, and conversations.

@Brenna Fender Looks like freeze dried, not dehydrated. It works ok for a training treat. It smells like like a block of cheddar should. The problem with it is that as you use it the bag itself starts to break down with the pieces rubbing against each other and it gets very crumbly. That's why I started adding cheerios. https://www.amazon.com/Raw-Paws-Wisconsin-Freeze-Cheese/dp/B07Q51RWH8/ref=sr_1_6_pp?crid=124WYL2DOZQRZ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ZqeWCsnbu7Pg5UyuMDFbeVprxsJyxBF0Ytni_L6oArQQqP5cjJKlMxlIJN_1RW993MwVRpc92evLbU2EbKK6lnQ_wj5stftb9ZK9fkMwSyXx30vGHOUb0MXZxwuwjuMxnr9VZjqv3bhjYEoF5nLOcIvCXA0sdkrdW1u9uF1z8MFR5foZ9TrMYoRdd4j7Kh7WOVXYGxkbqpcUTzmkgP0MShEs0yMFBD1q22jAY19swicSbr4DP273iWzLQoIi3rqeh_GCqh-bLxE_7QO8zaCEhA79dzYCRnow975tBWG0lV0.b7A_eKr5_jsqCkYbXIqWqlHcGOI9bgqY3hmcc2nDWNg&dib_tag=se&keywords=cheddar+dog+treats&qid=1765383675&sprefix=cheddar+dog+treat%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-6
December Canine Parkour Anywhere Challenge!
For December, Brenna graciously invited me to offer a Parkour Challenge! With the recent introduction of the new "Anywhere Tracks" in All Dogs Parkour, I thought it would be fun to offer a Challenge where you could create a Level 1 Anywhere Regular Track entry that could - if you so choose - be entered for a title. So, the first part of this challenge is to create 8 video clips of your dog performing All Dogs Parkour Exercises. The ones that I have chosen to teach for this Challenge are: Get On 2 Front Feet, Get On 4 Feet, Go Under, Between, Jump Clean, Go Around, and Figure 8. If you are familiar with All Dogs Parkour, you are more than welcome to use other Exercises, but I am only teaching these Exercises as part of the Challenge. You can use any items that you have for your dog to perform these Exercises, but for the Get On 4 Feet, please keep the item under the height of your dog's elbow. If the item is elbow height or higher, you do have to spot/support, and I am not including instruction on that skill for this challenge. (Again, if you are familiar with ADP and you know how to spot/support, you are welcome to use something higher and do so). Your dog does not have to perform all 7 of the Exercises. For Level 1, four "repeats" are allowed. Just remember that a "repeat" has to be performed on/with a different item. (Figure 8 can only be performed once). I provide a general description of this Challenge in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaPcYpf0ep8 And, in this video, I teach the seven Exercises. (I can provide this in typed form, if any of you prefer that). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1VZvCWWp18 In the Anywhere Track, "Off-List" variations of Exercises are allowed, and I address that in the video. As you create your videos, feel free to post them in this forum, and I will give you feedback. I will let you know if any changes are needed for the clip to meet All Dogs Parkour submission criteria.

I think the video answered my questions. The December challenge and submission is to submit 8 techniques. The 8 are any combination of the 7 provided as long as the figure-8 is only done once?

In the 2nd video you mentioned that you couldn't think of an off list version of the figure 8. I can. :) Figure 8 with the dog walking backwards around the 2 EFs. It would be awesome to see someone that could do that!
Premier Standard
Who else plays in Premier Standard with their dog? I think it's becoming our favorite class. Just wanted to share this awesome run from Brady today, it's his 12th Premier STD Q. I think we love it because there is really no pressure to Q & it's just FUN (like T2B!) I messed up our JWW run today so I will just keep watching this to make me feel better 😂🤩

That looks like a bunch of fun. I also haven’t done any AKC events because we are not ready for the requirements of jumpers with weaves I think is the starter course.

Oh, I didn’t know about the others. I thought JWW was the simplest course. Since I would have to drive to trial AKC I don’t want to do it until I have a chance of grabbing a Q.
Saturday trials
Yesterday had both ups and downs. We started with Novice Obedience and had a decent enough run. Free heel is a work in progress but we could have made it through. It was the recall that got us out NQ. He likes to sit and stare at me and say “nah I’m good”. I have even switched from a verbal recall to a signal after enough failed verbal attempts. Today it was not to be and we are still chasing our first leg. We we’re 108. Rally went grate. We finished intermediate and titled with a score of 96. Unfortunately I don’t have a video because my wife didn’t notice I moved from warmup, to on deck to in the ring. She got to see the second 1/2 of the run. This will be our last rally for a while. I don’t want to start learning the next set of signs until summer when I have less opportunities for agility. Back to chasing novice obedience legs and working on our agility journey.

He only does it when he stresses down. So yes, only in trials. But, not just obedience trials-agility also. We have NQd 3 times because of it. But it’s not the hand signal either. This was the first time I tried a signal after multiple NQs to a verbal recall. I don’t think he is confusing it with anything. I think it’s just the bulldog coming out. In Agility one of the reasons I only run jumpers right now is he will stall on the table in standard. He will refuse to come off of it until I give him a small tug on his collar. My weaves are not ready so I see no reason to “proof” that it is acceptable to setup a campsite on the table. I’ll crack both those nuts eventually.

@Brenna Fender I’m usually the one to blame. I have had to undo something I thought was a good idea a number of times.

@Susan Loeb fun fun fun. Is the around the cone (with the sit) for training go-outs for AKC obedience?

@Susan Loeb ahh ok, well I guess I’ll have to work on learning that one at some point. This weekend I will be doing Ob Novice and Rally Intermediate. With a bit of luck on my side I’m hoping for my 1st and 3rd legs respectively.
