News unbiaser chrome extension
I don’t know if this is normal but I’ve got about 5 SaaS MVPs sitting in my GitHub that I’ve never bothered launching because I talked myself out of it before I did it (mental health is a crafty minx.) Anyway, I tried ground news once and hated it because it’s all American news and I’m not in the USA. So I wrote a chrome extension that uses AI to remove the bias from any article you read. I’m sick of reading the left or right wing version of the news so this tool just rewrites the page as boring, unsensational prose. Currently I just run it on my computer and then connect the extension via localhost but I was wondering if I should splash the $50 a month in hosting and api fees and launch this thing with advertising/kofi donation for funding. I guess it’s just that I already have one product that’s costing me to host, if I launch this one that’s basically free, and relies on ads or kindness to fund, would people actually use it? Also, if you think of something I could do differently, say it.

@Kieran Gray sorry, $50 to cover hosting, LLM api costs and supabase.

@Kieran Gray yeah I could use AWS lambda and dynamodb but that’s not really important. I just want to know if it’s worth deploying, would people use it? I use it but I’m not most people.
SaaS API advice
Hey everyone! I've been loving reading everyone's insights and thier SaaS journeys. I've run into some issues and if love anyone's advice on what I should do: Some quick context: I'm building a SaaS tool for a trading card game that will allow users to fairly score and compare decks (even if they aim to do 2 completely different things). My initial gameplan is to run B2B and let other platforms use my tool via an API (to get my name out there before I run my own platform). 1. I have no idea if the API I have set up is built correctly for what I want it to do. (I'm not too code savvy) 2. I haven't had any luck getting B2B responses to my emails I appreciate any help on these issues and I hope you all have a great day!

In terms of the API thing, that’s probably simple enough. Postman can be used to diagnose it. If you need a hand let me know. In terms of the market side of things, it sounds like there’s a vertical you’re wanting to hit, I have no idea who they are but rapidapi is an api marketplace. There are others, Google can help. I have a tiny bit of experience in this field. If you want a quick phone call dm me. I do offer paid consulting on upwork but this isn’t a pitch, I’m happy to point you in the right direction first and if you need more help, we can discuss it.
486 Backlinks For Your SaaS!
Good morning everyone! I woke up to some strange news - my Reddit account was banned! They gave no explanation but my last post was about my partners young boy with cancer. So my only thoughts are that someone was offended by that. I had 2,869 karma votes and I was a top poster in 5 communities with over 200,000 people. So it sucks but I am going to challenge myself to grow it to that stage again! In the meantime, my friend sent me this and I have compiled it for you all: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UX5vjlalUF95onSv-JrPOsypqvU0An-13bjJ59PGABI/edit?usp=sharing This is a list of 486 free high DA directories, forums etc. These sites allow you to both share your SaaS publicly to gain attention and gain high quality backlinks to your site! Hopefully you find it useful! - Connor

Pat Walls talks a lot about his reddit struggles and the batshit standards they use to ban people.

@Connor Jones reddit mods have their reputation for a reason.
Somebody make this
Marketing. It’s expensive, it’s not easy for me, and I haven’t got the money to spend on AdWords or other things. If I could pay a $100 monthly subscription and know that my SaaS was getting seen by the market I was aiming for, I’d pay, and once I had $2000 MRR I’d pay $1000 a month to get more exposure. It’s not that AdWords doesn’t work, it’s that each impression is so expensive and you often get in front of the wrong people. I don’t know what the fix is, maybe it’s just a marketplace for everyone in this group to list in. Maybe it’s a newsletter. I dunno, I just know that marketing is expensive when you’re bootstrapping.

COMING SOON (Road Map)
Hello everyone! I am currently on my vacation in Greece. It has been a great break so far but I am excited to come back and really start investing time growing this fantastic community. Firstly, I have just written quite an intense Reddit post about the most challenging period in my SaaS's life. You can read it here if you are interested. In regards to the roadmap, the results from last weeks poll show that we'd like: 1) Weekly Google Meet Ups to discuss common bottleneck issues 2) The opportunity to 'build in private' 3) An option for a premium tier for intense discussion When I am home, I will get to work on 1 immediately and create futures date and time slots for us all. In regards to 2, it is now not against community terms to post your startup, just please refrain from promotion. Obviously you can link your websites but please only mention progress and ask for advice. Lastly, I did not want to charge for this community however, I do like the thought of a premium tier as well as a free tier. It would be awesome if we could use any membership fees to pay professional guests for private group workshops etc. So I will plan this out further. I will speak to you all when I am back! Connor

I’m hoping — even if it’s a bit cheeky — that if this community becomes paid or gains a premium tier, the existing members retain full membership without fees.
