Last comp of the season
The last Comp of the season went great. I swam great times even though I couldn’t train normally. I was injured and couldn’t train for a long time and I also couldn’t compete at the last competition. So I was really happy that I could swim. My coach also said it went great and I swam a few pb‘s. I am really happy about that. But what I am really really happy about is my Medal. I got third over the 100 Backstroke. And it was my first ever Medal at regionals. It was actually a bit unexpected because I couldn’t swim perfectly and there were a lot of faster swimmers there. So I think it was a really good competition to end the Season with. I also tried to swim the competition without pressure. I tried to not put pressure on me and not let the others pressure me. I think it really helped and I will definitely try to keep on doing that. I also always smiled before the start and I think that also helped. Overall I think I genuinely was happier and swam better than the past few competitions. It was also really really hot. Everyone was walking around with cooling towels but they didn’t really help. The water was also sooo warm and the lake was almost warmer than the pool. We had like 35-36 degrees. I was sweating so much. So that also made it way harder to swim because you got so tired from the heat and the sun. The cooldown pool was also so gross because so many people were there. So many gross things were floating around and the water was full of sand, sunscreen and grass. I still swam in it but I didn’t like it at all. The coolest thing tough was that the competition was here in Romanshorn and we organized everything And helped set up everything. It was so much fun. And there were so many people. Sorry for the long post.

I like the medal shape, it's not round, but not square either, if you know what I mean. Congratulations for the pbs and the medal as a reward for the season. 🥹💗
THE ONE COMPETITION I WAITED THE WHOLE YEAR!
This competition was the one I’d been waiting for the entire year, and how I’d crush all of my favourite swims with new pbs…although that was only a dream. Sadly, it did not go as planned and it totally backfired (I mean, in the individual races), let me talk you more. Sometimes when I’ve done an individual race like the 100m fly, and it turned out bad, always when I have a chance again to swim at a relay, I crush everyone. I mean, it’s obviously mentally that I do not want to disappoint the team and that I’d want my revenge for the last bad swim, but I would like that to be how I’d be thinking ALL THE TIME, not just in relays. It’s not like in every single relay I pb’d, I did on one and I’ll talk about it in a sec, but just how much I was willing to go out of my comfort zone and fight for that reward at the end (a medal, in this case, I did win a🥈). I think the most exciting and the most proud swim I’ve done is on the last day, where I competed in the 4^50m free. I was the last one, so I had to give it my best to secure a place! So, what did I do? I pb’d in the relay. And that was the 50m free time that I’ve wanted so long, it is a 29.! I’ve been struggling to go under 30s in so long, and I finally did, but I’m a little sad that it was not counted. What I’m a little stressed about too is that I know I can do my 29., but what if o do not succeed in the next competition coming up this weekend? (Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have ONE more competition before I’m free to go to Romania for the summer and relax). I REALLY ABSOLUTELY WANT to do better at this competition, even if it is literally this weekend and basically right after the other big competition. I have decided to do these races: the 50m, 100m, and 200m fly, and then the 50m, and 100m free. I’ll be training hard for this weekend because I want to succeed, I want to start the summer break on good terms, and it’s basically after just relax and seeing family. I think I’ve covered everything, have a good day you all! Xxxx 💖🫰☺️

♣️ Who's thinking about changing clubs for next year??
I'm curious please vote below. Depending on the votes, Yul and I might be running a special training for swimmers and parents who want to switch to another club. We have been part of many successful transitions and we know what to do (and what to avoid!!) to find a great team & coach. Vote HERE 👇

Comeback competition after a short break
On Saturday I had my first outdoor competition. This was also my first competition since I took a short break after regionals 6 weeks ago. The conditions were everything but perfect - bad blocks, 38 degrees and no cooldown pool. I still gave my best and overall quite happy with my results. First I had the 50 free. This was the first time I raced the 50 free this year. Felt terrible the first 25 and was also quite slow. Came back on the second half and found a good rhythm so I finished only .08 off my PB that I swam fully tapered. Next I had the 200 back: honestly it felt really good and I also swam my fastest 2nd 100 ever with 1:15.0 but was out way to slow in 1:12.8 so I was miles away from my PB. After a short lunchbreak I had the 100 fly. Honestly this event was my main focus for the day and it went pretty good. I changed my breathing-rhythm and pulling-technique after nationals in April and this was the second time I had the chance to try it out. Everything went well and I didn’t even feel like I was completely dying in the end. Had my fastest back-half ever. For me the main reason for this is my better underwaters. Attached a video. I’m in lane 4 with the silver cap. My last race was the 100 back. The same problem from the 200 appeared again. Splits were closer together than ever before but I was lacking the top-speed. So I went PB +4 The 100s of course were brutal because it was the hottest day of the year so far and I was completely stressed and dehydrated. Also not enough time to eat because I was coaching at the same time. I know that’s not an excuse but for me it was totally worth it - two of my kids (age 12 and 13) broke our team records in the 800 free LC. Maybe I’ll try to beat the male record next season Sorry for the long post guys😬

Congratulations to you and to your two students that broke the record!👊 Also, wow, those start blocks are indeed the worst. We have those at our outside pool too, and they really are THAT bad. 😬

I guess you can all call me Vikki and that I'm a flyer and a freestyler. I'm trying to be more active in the Skool community!
