📝 The PDP That Changed My Basketball Career I always worked hard. I trained. I lifted. I played. I wanted to get better. But after my sophmore college season I knew I needed to make a big jump & my coach let me know how important that offseason needed to be for me. So I did something different: I created a Player Development Plan (PDP). Instead of just saying, “I'm going to work hard this summer,” I actually created a roadmap for where I wanted to go. I wrote down: 🎯 My goals — What specifically did I need to improve & what I wanted? 🏀 My development priorities — What parts of my game were keeping me from the next level? 📅 My schedule — When was I going to train, lift, condition and play around shool/work? ⏰ My time management — How was I going to organize my days so the work actually got done? 📈 My progress & accountability — Was I actually doing what I said I was going to do & tracking? 🗺️ My roadmap — Instead of randomly training, I knew where I was going and what I needed to do next. The results were dramatic. The following season, I became an All-Conference player and College All-American selection. Looking back I actually think that off season was when I became a professional basketball player. I ended up being the first player from my college to ever sign a pro basketball contract. I played in 6 countries before focusing on basketball ministry & training with Hoops for Christ. Did the PDP magically make me better? No. But it was the game changer. It gave all my HARD WORK direction. That's the difference. A lot of players work hard. A lot of players go to workouts. A lot of players say: "I want to be a starter on my team or play college basketball." "I want to start." "I want to make varsity." "I want to become a better point guard." But there's a massive difference between having a DREAM and having a PLAN. Did you know that less than 1% of people actually take the time write down their goals & look at them? By creating your PDP with me you'll already be in the top 1% & that is way more important for life than just basketball !!!
