SF Selection and Warfighter(personal experience)
Hey everyone..this is kind of a response to a Selection question below, but figured anyone going this path may benefit. I finished Selection and was Selected, earlier this year. I actually report for the Q course on January 6. Personally I used warfighter and followed it about 90% as my prep. Used it all the way until I did a deload about 2 weeks out. I already had a good running and rucking base after 7 years of Infantry and a deployment(I’m NC guard). Being Guard, all of my training was on me. I did a ruck this week, a run the next, and kept following that cadence. I used the second conditioning day each week, as an in the gym conditioning..air bike sprints, sled sprints, ski erg, curved tread, etc. A huge mistake I saw is people doing 2-3 run/ruck each week and then show up to Selection with tiny nagging injuries, that only got much worse in the course. Recovery is everything..Selection is the time to push past your limits. I also never practice rucked with more than 50lbs total, nor did I run with ruck. Yea the Selection ruck is heavy and sucks, but I did just fine..came in 9th out of 123 for the final “Trek” ruck. I’m not big either..5’11 180lbs. I attribute my success hugely to Warfighter, how well it was programmed, and how it built my body as a whole..especially all the little supporting movements for knees, shoulders, low back etc. Also, it’s not just about strength and endurance. Be a great, real person during the entire course and always be helpful. In the end it’s a small team atmosphere you’re going for. Sorry this is long winded but hope it helps!🇺🇸
