Tea-Time Question
Hello everyone! I thought it was time for a little bit of fun. ๐Ÿ˜Š Our GourmetQuilter Studio Corner family is growing so nicely (welcome to all our new members!), so here's a question that I think every quilter can answer... Cast your vote, then tell us a little more in the comments. I'd love to hear your quilting story... and don't worry, this is a judgement-free zone. I suspect quite a few of us may have more than one project on the go! Happy stitching, SusanClaire ๐Ÿงต ...because quilting is delicious! Which one sounds most like you?

I have quite a few projects going at all times! Mostly because I have so many things I want to make. I do finish my projects, but it just takes me a little longer! Last year I completed 10 projects that were in various stages from barely started to almost done. Our guild does something called PHD, or Projects Half Done. At the beginning of the year those who want to participate get a page with 10 slots. We fill in the lines 1- 10 with projects we want to finish. Each month, we a number is drawn at the meeting and we all have to complete whichever project we have filled in that spot. It's a fun way to get things finished. I didn't sign up for it this year because I had to finish the graduation quilt I made for my granddaughter. I am, however, working on getting other projects done as a personal challenge to myself!
Graduation Quilt
I just wanted to share a quilt I made for my granddaughter's high school graduation quilt. She sent me a sketch of what she wanted last August. It took me a bit to figure out how to get the center part figured out. I used EQ8 to create the spiral border. I found pictures of the two mountains that are in the Flathead valley in NW Montana. They are Columbia on the right and Teakettle on the left. They are the gateway to Glacier National Park. We lived right below Tea Kettle for 32 years before we retired and moved to Oklahoma. She had been to the ocean the year before and specifically wanted to have it in the quilt. That was a challenge to be sure! From sketch to finish, it took me a little over 9 months to make this quilt. Here is the sketch and the finished quilt with my granddaughter standing next to it. She loved it which made me very happy!

Thank you! The quilt is 65" x 96" which is the size for an extra long twin bed. It was fun to design the spiral borders which I created in EQ8 and then paper pieced them.

This looks like it would be a great way to use up a lot of scraps using the flip and sew method. I can see doing this for place mats, trivets, mug rugs, & totes, for starters! Great idea SusanClaire, Thanks!
