Tea-Time Question
Hello everyone! I thought it was time for a little bit of fun. 😊 Our GourmetQuilter Studio Corner family is growing so nicely (welcome to all our new members!), so here's a question that I think every quilter can answer... Cast your vote, then tell us a little more in the comments. I'd love to hear your quilting story... and don't worry, this is a judgement-free zone. I suspect quite a few of us may have more than one project on the go! Happy stitching, SusanClaire 🧵 ...because quilting is delicious! Which one sounds most like you?

@Pat Coulston hi to the UK. We are in the middle of a very wet winter right here, great for quilting but with rivers flooding and bridges closed and roads falling away, it isn't easy for everyone. Good time to plan and sew though.

@Abigail Howard hi Abigail, so good to hear from you. Life certainly throws up some challenges. As I live in a tiny house I understand the space challenge although I do have my barn studio. But as far as living on a daily basis I need to spend a lot of time in the tiny house. Quilt as you go sounds a good solution or what about a hand sewing project that you can pick up and put down as time permits? Applique? EPP? Redwork Stitchery/embroidery? It would be great if you can get to those meetings as it is so helpful to be with other creative people too. Keep in touch.
Quilting Retreats
Hi everyone, I love attending quilting retreats - do you? I have attended many retreats over the years, both local in NZ and also some overseas. Many years ago I was able to attend a retreat in London, UK. More recently I have attended several in USA. I have friends who run quilting retreats in NZ, these, of course, need to be supported! Do you love to attend retreats? tell us more, we would love to hear where you go, what you do at retreat and anything else you would like to share about retreats.

@Janet Parde Janet, that is such a great response, thank you. It is so true, the whole experience is to be savoured, all that prep holds a level of excitement. I know it works for me just at the mention of the word "retreat"! and even if we can't get to them as we would like, there are the memories of the ones we have attended as it allows us to identify when, as you suggest, you read about them. So much fun, friendliness and even achieving. Inspiring even.

@Tammi Coombs Hi Tammi, welcome. Thanks so much for sharing the pics of your quilts - delicious! I love that you ave used old shirts for the flag quilt - I love working with old shirts. So amazing to have your mother-in-laws craft room, what a great way to remember her as you make things.

@Alyson Mark Hi Alyson, welcome to the group, we are thrilled to have you. The Wonky Scrapper sounds delicious! We would love to see some pics when you can, thanks.
Be honest... what's the oldest piece of fabric in your stash?
I do actually have a couple of pieces of antique fabric, but I also have lots of older fabrics that I have been reluctant to use as I wouldn't have them any more! Do you older fabrics, we would love to hear about them.

@Tammi Coombs well that is great that you inherited your mother-in-laws sewing room. I love that tip about adding the silica gel in the fabric storage, thanks.

@Janet Parde How wonderful, I am imagining a wonderland of fabrics here there and everywhere! I wouldn't say tyhat mine are very organised but I have a fair idea where to look when I need something - but sometimes the fabrics have a mind of their own and move, I am sure of it! and breed - well, there seems to be much more fabric every time I look!
