The First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah
Allah swears by them in His Book: "By the dawn. And [by] the ten nights…" — Surah Al-Fajr (89:1–2) 💬 Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) said: “The ten nights refer to the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, as stated by Ibn Abbas, Ibn az-Zubayr, Mujahid, and others among the salaf.” 🔹 The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." — Bukhari (969) Even the Day of Arafah, within these days, holds immense weight: "Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." — Muslim (1162) 📚 Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “The days of Dhul Hijjah are better than the days of Ramadan, and the nights of Ramadan are better than the nights of Dhul Hijjah.” 💡 This means that daytime worship — fasting, dhikr, sadaqah, prayer — is most rewarded now. ✅ What can we do? Say more dhikr: “Increase in saying: Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Alhamdulillah.” — Authentically reported from Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah Fast — especially the Day of Arafah Give sadaqah, support relief for Gaza or students of knowledge Make du‘a with yaqeen Pray more nawafil Renew your repentance These days are short, but their rewards are immense. “So race toward good deeds.” — Surah Al-Baqarah (2:148) 📌 Will you treat these 10 days like any other — or like the chance of a lifetime?
