5 contributions to BookVillage - Amazon Reviews
👋 Welcome to the BookVillage Community
Hi everyone, I’m Adriano, founder of BookVillage.pub I created this community because I felt there was a real need for a space entirely dedicated to one of the most important topics for every self-publisher: Amazon book reviews. Getting reviews is something that matters to anyone publishing on Amazon, yet I often see that this topic is rarely discussed in depth. Many publishers have questions but don’t always know who to ask. And when they do ask, the answers are often vague or incomplete. The goal of this community is to change that. Here you can ask any question you have about reviews and we’ll always do our best to provide clear answers backed by real experience and data. Your questions will also help shape future content in the Classroom section, such as: • short tutorial videos • straight-to-the-point articles • explanations of different review strategies You are free to ask questions not only about BookVillage, but about any service or strategy related to getting reviews and self-publishing in general. You’re also welcome to introduce yourself and share your experience, including: • what services you have used in the past • what review strategies you have tried before • what worked well and what didn’t This way we can build a real source of feedback and knowledge that will also help future members of the community. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments and share your experience. And if you know other publishers or independent authors who might benefit from these discussions, feel free to invite them to join the community. 📚 IMPORTANT: BOOKVILLAGE UNIVERSITY Inside the Classroom section, you’ll also find the BookVillage University, where I explain in depth how BookVillage works, how Amazon reviews actually behave over time, and what I currently believe are the safest long-term approaches for both receiving and posting reviews. And there are two lessons in particular that I strongly recommend every user watches carefully:

@Sarah Mia Olivia Thanks Sara. Out of curiosity, are you part of Adriano’s team and helping with support? Are you a help bot as you are very helpful on multiple queries and ask allot of “out of curiosity” follow up questions?

@Sarah Mia Olivia Thanks for the clarity. I think follow up questions are pertinent in some situations but not all. Glad to have you onboard helping with the support questions in a timely manner. It would have also been good if Adriano had introduced you to the community as part of the support team as people would be more trusting of your advice knowing you are part of support and not some sort of “marketer” trying to build trust/get more information etc. as many do with “follow up questions”.
Reader Assistant Service Is Now Available
Sorry for the delay, guys, but the pace of work here has been brutal. It’s 3 AM in Italy as I’m writing this. I’ve just finished preparing the full explanation article for the Reader Assistant Service, where you’ll find everything you need to understand how it works and why we believe this is the only sustainable way to delegate assignments safely in the long term. You can read the full explanation here: https://bookvillage.pub/wiki/new-to-bookvillage--start-here/reader-assistant-service I’m extremely curious to hear your opinion about this new approach. The goal is to give you a way to save time while still receiving very high-quality reviews, without falling into the trap of many questionable services out there that charge similar prices but deliver, at best, 20% of the quality. So go ahead and break the comments section with your thoughts, questions, and feedback. BookVillage is your ally.

@Sarah Mia Olivia Hi again. I think a “reserved but time-limited selection window“ would help but ultimately what the platform is doing is weeding out the people who are doing this through their inaction of not reviewing the books they book. I think that the system should also red flag these people if they continue to book and not review in the limited time.
Issues with BookVillage
When I go to choose a book to read, I get shown the same 5 books over and over. We should be able to choose the book we want to read. Then, when I click OPEN THIS BOOK, I see that it has the info about the book. Then a button to look at the book on Amazon. This is not good. You should not be sending traffic from BookVillage to Amazon about a book and then we purchase the book and Amazon knows where the referral came from. Amazon can track that behavior. Why do you do that? At least just have it so that when you click the button it copies the book's Amazon URL and then we copy and paste the URL it into our browser. That why the referral does not come from BookVillage.

Hi Scott, I feel your pain. I copy the button link out and paste it into a browser so it does not seem to come directly from BV. I checked today and I am only seeing 1 book available in the $2.99 section in my Reader Office, where previously I was seeing only 3-4 books and most had been on there for quite a while. I have gone through the other catagories and all of them have very few books to choose from. I hope this is not the beta VA program canabilising the availability of the books to read.

@Adriano Ferrigno Thanks for the clarification. I look forward to seeing more books for review in the paid, verified sections (especially the $2.99) in the near future.
Updates on the Reader Assistant Service
I wanted to thank you for the number of sign-ups we have received for our Reader Assistant service. You should have already started receiving all the instructions needed to begin having your assignments managed directly by readers trained by us. We are also working on expanding the available slots to allow more users to take advantage of this service. I’m very happy to see that you have understood its value, even though it is something completely new in the self-publishing space. For those who may have missed it, here is the link again with all the details: https://bookvillage.pub/wiki/new-to-bookvillage--start-here/reader-assistant-service

@Omar Lopez Totally agree. I just like clarity and accountability. I am totally for safety and doing it the correct way.

@Adriano Ferrigno Thanks for the clarification and confirmation. My main concern is that the RAs and I would be competing for the the same books to review and that the RA being paid to review would have the books delegated to them or an incentive to be on the platform more regularly and hence have the opportunity to access a wider range of books to choose from. In effect, the more people who pay for the service and the more RAs created, the less books we, the traditional customer, will have access to to review and build up our book “credits” for return reviews on our books.
Important Update on Contribution Calculation Inside the Village
Hi everyone, in the past few weeks, likely also due to the extended 30-day free trial, we’ve noticed some users booking assignments to unlock promotions and then letting those assignments expire. When this behavior repeats, we monitor, contact the users, and in more serious cases, proceed with bans. The problem is that this affects serious users, who may wait days for a review and then see the promotion return active because it wasn’t completed. For this reason, we are introducing the following change: 👉 Booking an assignment will no longer unlock a promotion 👉 A promotion will be unlocked only once the assignment is completed Important: an assignment is considered completed when the review is submitted on BookVillage, not when the Amazon link is added. That step counts as verification, not completion. This may be a temporary change, and we will monitor it over the next few weeks.
