Seeing a dip in downloads? That's just the holidays!
Hey friends, let's talk about those November/December download numbers. Seeing a dip right now? Holiday's gonna holiday. Here's what I want you to remember about the podcast industry as a whole... people listen to them during their routines. Think commutes, morning coffee, dog walks, and gym sessions. The parts of their day that look the same week after week. And what happens during November and December? Those routines get completely thrown out the window. People are traveling, kids are home, hosting family, running errands at weird times, and watching holiday movies instead of their usual Tuesday workout. Podcast listening happens in the margins of routine, and during those months those margins basically disappeared. This is completely normal. You didn't mess anything up. Say it with me: I didn't mess anything up. Your content is still landing, and your audience is still there! They're just living in a different rhythm right now. So if you're staring at your analytics and sad, please close that tab. This is seasonal, it'll shift, the numbers will change this month, routines will return, and your listeners will be back. In the meantime, the most strategic thing you can do is to stop checking those numbers every day and focus on what matters right now. The holidays did their thing. Your podcast is fine.

Yup! I always waffle on whether or not to share new guest episodes because December episodes rarely "rebound" with downloads. But my Jan episodes, typically around updating your business, always include a highest downloaded episode of the year.

@Leah Bryant LOL 3.5 years, 275 episodes and I've only replayed 5 episodes and they were all solos. I've shared a handful of my guest episodes from somewhere else, less than 5, but other than those, it's been new content the entire time. I mean I SHOULD... so maybe I will slot that for June because my December episodes this year were all about marketing/selling + case studies and were GOOD.
Monday Focus Check-In ☕
What's the ONE strategic thing you're prioritizing in your podcast this week? Not your task list. Not everything you have to do. The ONE thing that, if you nail it, moves the needle. For me: Audit my Q1 content plan to ensure I'm leading with strategy, not just tips. Drop yours below 👇

Happy Monday, Strategic Podcasters!
It's Christmas week, and I'm guessing your brain might be somewhere between "cozy holiday mode" and "wait, what day is it again?" Here's the thing to remember: Slower weeks are actually strategic weeks if you use them intentionally. So this Monday, I'm asking you the same question, but with a holiday twist: What's your ONE focus for this week? Maybe it's: - Actually taking a full break (yes, this counts as strategic!) - Using the quiet time to map out Q1 strategy - Finally listening to those episodes you've been meaning to analyze - Batch recording while your calendar is lighter - Or simply catching up on admin that's been piling up There's no "right" answer here. Just what feels most aligned with where you are and where you're headed. Drop your ONE focus below. And if your answer is "I'm fully unplugged," I want to hear that too. Strategic rest is still a strategy. 🎁

Getting my *new* offer fleshed out and live by Wed. I recorded one podcast episode to tease it. Might rerecord once I get it all done.
