Ch-ch-ch-changes!!!
We originally started this community as a steering hub, but both Joann and I also love coaching paddlers and developing new coaches. So, over the coming months, we will be adding resources in both those realms. And we'd like YOU to help us shape that. So, tell us in the comments what you want the most support or training in! Answer the poll then expand in the comments. Which of these would you like to see us add next?

Very good topics. I think that workouts specific for dragon boat would be great. I have a question. What paddling style is the most common for competitive teams and for the national team? (A frame, D frame, other frame?)
@Liisa Reimann many things prompted me to ask. "A" frame seems to be hard on shoulders and it doesn't seem to be used by many teams anymore. We are changing the style as a team currently. For OC1 trainning, is needed a different style. Yes, we are adaptable but A frame, for example, seems to me as the hardest to unlearn and as such, the hardest to adapt to a different style. I made the transition to a different style 10 months ago. Of course, I don't have your extensive experience. So, I am taking it one step at a time.
Who are my fellow Barefoot steerers?
I find that steering barefoot gives me more gripping capabilities for increased stability. However, after a longer practice (75 to 90 min) my feet start to hurt. Any suggestions on steer shoes that still provide foot grip?
@Gina Fortunato I walk barefoot too, at times. It is something about feeling the ground/water on your own skin. It adds a dimension of beauty and awareness. Each step you take becomes more deliberate, more considerate, and more grateful... ☺️
I meant paddling, not padding. I don't see an editing option here. 😂
Next Level 1 Steering Assessment: August 15/16 in Vermont
***UPDATE: August is cancelled - bad timing for folks. New one planned for early June. If you've completed your online coursework, passed your exam, and completed your 6 hours of practice, you're eligible to register for the in-person steering assessment. We're holding the next one in Vermont, in August. Comment below or DM me if you'd like to test or if you have questions.
Next Level 1 Steering Assessment: August 15/16 in Vermont
Will you hold another assessment besides the one in August 15-16?
@Liisa Reimann so no other date for this year?
Testing
Liisa, your email about the testing dates in August went straight to my junk mail. Unfortunately, I very sheldom check it. I wanted to ask if, by any chance, you would schedule another opportunity for testing on the water this year. I sent an email as well but I didn't get a response. I figured out you would be more likely to see messages here.

Season so far?
For many it's the start of the Dragon Boat season. How's it going so far? Any good gossip? 😁

No gossip at all. It is always nice being on the lake with the team. I continue to practice and improve on my paddling and steering skills. ☺️
