PPOM! 🏆🏆
Today we had our third league game of the season. It was a hard fought 2-1 win and Theo received the Parents Player of the Match Award. We were especially proud as he was asked to play outfield for a quarter so the sub keeper could get some practice in and Theo managed to score his first competitive goal!!
PPOM! 🏆🏆
Proud mum moment
Theo went along to an assessment for the Tonbridge & Malling football squad and came home thinking he hadn’t played his best… so we definitely weren’t expecting the message we got afterwards! He’s been offered a squad place in their Primary Representative Team! 🧤⚽️💙 He was absolutely buzzing when we told him, and we’re so, so proud of him. He’s put a lot of time and effort into his football and especially into developing as a goalkeeper, so it’s lovely to see that hard work paying off. Another little step in his football journey and, most importantly, another opportunity for him to learn, improve and enjoy doing something he loves. Well done, Theo. We’re ridiculously proud of you ❤️⚽️
First Win of the Season!
Theo and his U10’s team got their first win of the season yesterday against a tough opponent who didn’t always play fair. They battled hard, played football the right way and came away with a 1-0 win. Could have been more but credit to their keeper and the woodwork who both came to the oppositions rescue about 3 times each!
1st league match
Today was my Grassroots first league match like lots of you. We were playing the team that came second in the league last season whereas we came second bottom. The team played well they listened to my instructions and battled hard by half-time we were winning 1-0. Second half started and a pass from my defender straight to their striker gave them a goal 1-1. However we reset and we all dug deep playing our part that in the last minute if the game our striker broke through kicked it round their goalkeeper and it hit the post but our winger was there to shoot it in the net. We won 2-1. It was strange because technically the opposition weren't any better and because of this they were resorting to constantly fouling. No photos as my mum was sorting out prematch stuff now she is coach but she did film the game so match highlights will be posted over the next couple of days

Well done @Xavier Stark! Theo had a similar experience yesterday. The opposition were constantly fouling and even swearing (he plays under 10’s!) but his team let their football do the talking and outplayed them in all aspects of the game. Theo’s team won but only 1-0 due to the opposition keeper making 3 or 4 really good saves and is hitting the woodwork 2 or 3 times! Theo shock the goalkeepers hand at the end but when he offered his hand to the rest of the opposition they wouldn’t shake it and just walked off and I think that tells you all you need to know about that team!
Goalkeeping isn't all about shot stopping
Second game of the season today and a team we hadn't played before. A solid game and a 6-0 win Today showed that although you aren't always asked to stop shots. There is plenty to do. Game management was massive today. Slowing play down and hitting the pass when needed. It was really nice to be a pivot point and help change direction of play. I was involved in one goal. A long pass out to a winger a first time pass to the goal scorer. Comments again today stating that having a solid GK gives the rest of the team the confidence to play in front of him.

Well done! Have said this to Theo lots of times too, so much more to goalkeeping than stopping shots. Hes started to be more vocal in his last few games and it helps his defense to know where to be or where the danger could come from.
