Working on something - need your thoughts
Tons of top selling books have sold hundreds of millions of copies, yet only about 1% of people who read them ever achieved what was in the book. What's the disconnect? I think it's the gap between knowing and doing. Concepts vs execution Let me list some titles to illustrate: Think and Grow Rich The Alchemist How to Win Friends and Influence People You Can Heal Your Life 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Rich Dad Poor Dad The Power of Positive Thinking 5 Love Languages Who Moved My Cheese The 49 Laws of Power Chicken Soup for the Soul All these (except for the last one) have literally sold like hot cakes since day of publication. I could go on for HOURS about how they are similar AND not similar. How some authors were famous and some unknown at time of publication etc. Regardless... I've always wondered...with ALL the copies sold...if the advice/direction really works (which it has proven to for a small number of readers), then why isn't EVERYONE rich or wise or loving or healed etc. Why some but not all? Again why the HUGE number of people who are in the group of KNOWING but not DOING? What is the magic formula that gives some of the readers of these books the result promised? Is it merely timing of the reader's WANT to change intersecting with "finding" the book? If your initial response is "self help doesn't work" please keep comments to yourself. This is not up for debate. These books DO help some...a very very tiny percent of total readers, but it does help. The question is why JUST some and not all? Let's have an active discussion here.

@Wesley Williams Also I think that particular book had some controversy about it way back when... supposedly Napoleon Hill was an alleged fraudster... Maybe writing the book got him wealthy! :). No doubt, in all these books there is that element they do want to sell them and make money. Not wrong in and of itself but something to keep in mind.

Work Facts for Modern Times
Just because Ai is the shiny new object on the shelf, it doesn't mean you have to buy. If your business is good keep going with it. Add some ai tools if you want, but most are either just helpful to make people lazier, or are just cool gadgets. Remember, people used to riot over the new thing called "electricity"

The term Modern times reminds me of the classic Charlie Chaplin Movie. :)
I Surprise Myself Sometimes
Instead of saying you're a "survivor" (which sounds like you're "less than" or you're weak in some way) think of it more like you are resourceful and you are resilient! YOU came through and overcame a really bad situation. I like to think that I'm resilient not a survivor. If you would like to share a time you spit in the eye of adversity in the comments, I'd love to read it.

As a young adult I remember thinking I don't like when people say I am surviving.. to me that always had a vision of someone barely getting by! I, and yes somewhat naively, said I don't believe in survival I believe in thriving. I still think that but it has been tempered with some difficult life experiences. I agree with you I don't like using that word! Adversity sucks for sure but in my life it almost seems subtle in how it makes you stronger. Sure does not seem like I am getting stronger but down the road it sure appears maybe I am.
I just had some dust in my eye!

Re-Runs & Syndication
Lately, for several years, I really don't watch TV anymore. I watch a couple of comedy shows online, but not at the "broadcast" time or day. Tubi, Pluto TV, and Youtube are my "go to's" for old movies and TV shows. All re-runs, all there because of syndication. Old content, but still makes me laugh. Do you watch old TV shows or movies? Did you ever rent movies? Do you re-read good books over and over? Do you ever watch old documentaries about history? Do you like to learn about history? Do you ever think, "this is old so it's not relevant"? Just curious. I have hundreds of hours of content on Youtube. Most of it is still very relevant and true. Yes, some parts may mention "in the moment" information from the time of the original recording...but does that make the entire piece of content irrelevant? I don't think it does. I love re-runs, and good books, and movies I've seen dozens of times. If it makes me laugh or think or helps me learn...I'll consume it over and over and over... Just some thoughts I felt relevant to share to start the week.

I this last week installed an old school tv antenna in my attic. This last year we cut of cable and we just use streaming. However there were times when I could not watch a sports event I wanted to, except on air tv.. I had rigged a small indoor antenna and it worked ok. I looked on FB marketplace and this guy was giving away a large tv antenna for free. I went and got it and finally put it in the attic. I have hooked it to the tv's in our house and when I ran the Chanel scan it has over 80 Chanels and they are not too bad actually! "ME tv". . etc
