I will have to work tomorrow and so does my friend Patricia but we will listen to the Recording: How do you work with dogs that are lacking confidence or have negativ associations with play? How do you work when dogs are general picky eater?
Food game axius dog
My name is Patricia. I'm a hobby dog handler. I have a rescue dog, Milva, who will be three years old soon. She's always been a cautious dog. We used to play food games together, and it worked quite well. A few weeks ago, I offered her some food. When her muzzle was still about half a net away from my hand, she suddenly yelped. I couldn't see what had triggered it. It took a while before she would even take food from my hand again. Now, the food games are very tentative. You'd think she was being beaten. Any idea to fix it

Socialplay Bilbo and Saki
Socialplay Bilbo https://youtu.be/R-tvi4Ij7rs Socialplay Saki https://youtu.be/0sjzhdk4FOM Saki is a very noisy and intense player also with other dogs. I can play softer with her but chose to show the high noisy one. When she is mouthing she is nontheless soft- otherwise it would stop, but I had not to stop. Usually we only do the soft play.

Please introduce yourself to everyone (and me if we meet for the first time☺️) - tell us - Who are you? - what dog/dogs you have? Don't forget to post photo of you and your dog/dogs! - What are you mainly working on right now? - What would you like to learn here? This is live course so it will be adjusted to your specific needs!

Hello, I am Christine and live with two chesapeake bay retriever in Austria. I saw this course on Rachel`s webpage and later she also wrote to me about it. I thought this is what I was looking for my friend and it would be for sure nice for mine too. When I tried to enter my friend I ended up being in it and as we did not find a way to change it. I thougt it is a sign and so we are in it too. I am a dog trainer and kinesiologist and since last year finished my dog physio training in Germany which I am only allowed to use massage and fitness training on healthy dogs in Austria. My dogs do scent detection (conservation detection- cadaver), SAR, retriever work, obedience and a bit of home hoopers and therapy dog work. Bilbo 8 years is a very noisy dog when his expectation is high which is always when ever he excpects work but very relaxed and calm in daily life. Saki 2 years is noisier in daily life when she is excited or frustrated but otherwise also calm and relaxed. Due to my earning from Bilbo she can work much calmer and mostly quiet. I have been a dog trainer at Tierschutz Austria a mass shelter for over 10 years and playing with dogs was not allowed there. So we used mainly food and life rewards for training. Though Bilbo and Saki are rewarded with play e.g. for finds in scent detection or SAR - I find myself playing much less with them than I used to with my prior dogs.
