Negotiating a load
Well, I did it! I negotiated a load, not one time, but twice! Yes, I said twice. I negotiated it when I first booked it, but it was only for an extra $200. Then, when my driver sent me the pictures and I saw it took up most of the trailer, I had him measure it. The ratecon and the broker said it's on 15ft its a partial load. It measures 20 ft 5 in. I called them and then also sent an email with picture confirmation of the measurements and asked for another $500, since we cannot pick up another partial load with our 30ft mega ramp trailer. Most places do not like you to use the 5ft mega ramps to load on. They accepted my negotiation email. I couldn't believe it when the broker told me they could only do an extra $200 the first time. 🤑

Mine has been finding the cargo. Im starting off small with a cargo van and working with a carrier that wants to stay in state cause thier mc is in works. Hopefully I'll find something this week
Practice calls
Just wanted to know did anybody practice with other groups or people or did you go straight to calling customers amd learned from that experience. I found that I do better with practice and would love just to run through it first before actually giving a call. It helps build my confidence. Does that help with anyone else?

Got my first carrier!!!
Update: I collected my first carrier today. A friend that owns a box truck company with three trucks. Some context: I had to cancel my subscription to the paid portion of Dispatcher University, not because the system does not work but because I can not afford it at the moment. To those that don't know, I was taken advantage of in late 2025 as a lease on owner operator. It left my business near bankruptcy. I transitioned into dispatch because of it. I'm grateful to God I was able to use my contacts in the industry to scale the biggest hurdle to dispatchers, finding carriers. Otherwise I would have to spend lots of money in advertising to let carriers know my company exists. Then afterwards I would have to convince them to work with me. My industry connections helped me bypass that expense and roadblock. Grateful to @Gurpreet Gill for his teaching and expertise that gave me knowledge and tools to help my friends run their businesses more efficiently. I'm encouraged and excited about the future. Once my company returns to the black, I'll return with an update. Thanks to everyone I've met in this community and to all the encouraging words and advice. I can't wait to come back with more good news.

Introduction, hey everyone
Hi, I’m Christina Davis I live in Charlotte NCI plan on making $5,000 per month dispatching trucks. I want to get these 3 things from this course/community: 1. learn the load boards 2. Make connections 3. Grow my business For fun I like to do these 3 things: 1. Read and do puzzles 2. Spend time with family because life is short 3. Learn about living off the grid lol

@Fatima Smith a little of both. Getting rid of all tech in my life would be extreme, but I do want to minimize it. I just want to stick to the basics with air conditioning lol. But Def want to live in a secluded area. All the city noise gives me a headache lol
