I think I have the potential to win a bid for our local VA for $60k monthly. 13 buildings, 279 total rooms, 340k Square Feet. Daily Cleaning. I'm not sure if I'm completely dumb to do this bid - but I have several staffing agencies I have used in our area, and we will need to take on about 20 or so people. If the bid is awarded, I'll have almost no time to find employees to handle this job because they expect an almost immediate start once the bid is awarded. On one hand, this could be life changing...but on the other it could be devastating if I can't fulfill the bid. I think that with the help of using several agencies we could at least get a bulk of the staff we need, but it may take some time to get them all - and I think that should be understandable. I have 2 questions. 1 - I'm 50/50 on this, I kind of want to take the risk, is this a smart decision? 2 - How I found out about this bid was because I got a random call from someone looking us up on Google that is a Federal Bid Consultant, and what they do is find contracts, call people who can fulfill the service, they do the paperwork for the bid, and get a premium above what we send in. I am fully capable of filing this paperwork because I've registered my UEI through sam.gov, but it also sounds like she knows what she is doing from our conversation, and it seems like there is nothing that we have to do out of pocket, she just gets a profit off the top of our quote. Is this normal and has anybody ever heard of this? The only thing I forgot to ask is - and this is an important one - but who gets paid from the VA - I mean I am not signing a contract with this person or anything. I just wasn't sure.
