Ultra slow on the Lathe
I wanted to share what I came up with to handle the 4 hour ultra slow curing of a final coat. This ties up the lathe for four hours but I just will start it at supper time and turn off at bed time. I’m not doing that much production nor do I have any space for a separate drying areas. Total cost less than $40. Hey Don thanks for sharing this smart idea it’s exactly what I need for my setup. I used our rotisserie motor from our bbq ( to cold to bbq anyhow) ground a bolt down to drive the disk I physical attached to my lathe wheel and the motor sits on my outrigger and walla I am good to go. Thanks again for sharing.
Vacuum vs Pressure Video is Live
Happy Sunday everyone, The Vacuum Chamber vs Pressure Pot video is now live in the classroom. This is a short introduction to the two different setups you can use to help reduce bubbles. Both work slightly differently and have their own pros and cons, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask — I’ll be happy to help if you’re unsure.

Looking forward to learning your processes have tried both pressure pot and vacuum with limited success.

@David Szelpal as mentioned have just started using the pressure pot and a vacuum chamber. The vacuum process worked for most part but I believe if I had stabililized my wood (old apple branch’s) prior I would have had less bubbles and than there was the leak through the tape around my mold (learned don’t spare the tape). As for pressure pot I converted a paint pot to be used as a pressure pot unfortunately it as turned out to be to small 3 gallon and can only get 45 psi before pressure release goes off and have an issue losing pressure despite resealing all threads with Teflon tape. Likely will have to buy a proper pressure pot.

Hi from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I’ve been trying my own but hope to shorten the learning process.

Hi I live in Alberta in Canada and have enjoyed wood working for years and made a few projects incorporating epoxy. Couple months back picked up a lathe and after seeing some of Dave’s projects and other creators got the bug to create some turning. Attached is what I am currently working on I seem to start several projects at once which ends up taking forever to get at least one finished. Looking forward to learning tips and tricks to perfect the process.

Recently retired with more hobbies than I have time for. Woodworking is at the top right now and have been experimenting with epoxy resin recently.
