TTS triggered by external sounds?
Seems that my TTS is triggered by external sounds. Also in bed I notice it a lot. It’s very frustrating. Tinnitus seems to have gotten louder after my car accident januari 1st. I am so sad from it all.

@Elena Thompson I try to rest as much as I can. My brain unfortunatly gets overwhelmed even in “normal” setrings and surroundings. If at all things can be fixed, it probably takes (a lot of) time. I see all kinds of specialists . But most of all it feels like my normal life has abruptavely ended…I hope the tinnitus deminishes over time
Hyperacusis
Any community member suffer from sound sensitivity ? Do you still have it ? If you had it but don’t anymore how did you overcome this condition ? How long did it take you to overcome this over amplification by your brain ?

@Guy Cohen I seem to handle it a little better now. Though it´s still the same sensitivity. I am getting used to it, I guess.

@Guy Cohen nervous system still on alarm, but one day it’s better than the other. Just got out of the bus. Now @home in silent surrounding and it has doubled. It’s got to be reactive… it sucks
Not doing well
I am currently taking sleeping pills. (Lorazepam ) but I am under the impression my symptoms have worsened. Without, I don’t sleep at all. I am going to explore Quiviviq. Does anyone have experience with this? They can be used long term and don’t have the addiction problems that benzo’ s have. Please be kind. Just trying to survive.

@Guy Cohen In The Netherlands, doctors are not prescribing this often. I hope my psychiatrist will follow through on my wish. (Although it has some side effects like worsening depression, etc) But sleep is essential. Tinnitus is roaring and fluctuating at night. Trying to be calm just accepting it. Lot of sweating in bed. Could be the mind is accepting it but the body is still in fight flight modus. But it begins with the mind set. Honestly, the fluctuation is going through the roof and never been this worse.

@Guy Cohen It´s not prescribed here . The psychiatrist gave me trazodon. It doesn´t work.

I have hearing aids, but my hearing was measured as ¨normal¨ with the audiologist. Sometimes I use them for masking, but having hyperacusis with it, makes it complex. Struggling for nearly four months now. Still trying to cope.

@Guy Cohen I am currently in therapy. For CBT. But it hasn´t started yet. It is a very slow process. But the TTTS and headaches 24/7 along with it concern me. I try to accept the sound and let it be there. I really try to accept it. I think I am still grieving. But I let that be present also. Wish it all would fall from my shoulders
Can TTS (Tensor Tympani Syndrome) be triggered by movements of the head??
Just a question I was thinking about. If having tinnitus and hyperacusis (in relation to TTS), there can be a very uncomfortable feeling (even pain triggering) in the ears. Except for having a 24/7 fulness in the ears, you notice that head movements trigger something really bothersome. Next to having tinnitus and hyperacusis, this seems to be able to amplify these conditions. What is your opnion or experience?

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I use soft pillows myself. As I mentioned, I experience body pain, thus also back pain amongst others. It is like standing in front of a hugemountain and not know where to begin climbing it in this (early?) stage. I blame myself for attending this festival last september. But onnce again, that could easily have been just a trigger for one and other. I simply don´t know. The audiologist wove my condition away as a ¨filtering problem of the brain¨. They acknowledged my tinnitus and hyperacusis though, but send me away on my own with a bunch of folder material explaining what hyperacusis and tinnitus meant. I allready studied that on the internet. As you understand, this whole proces didn´t bring me anything at that moment and it felt like starting all over again from square one. One can not imagine (I know you can) how that feels.

@Guy Cohen Tonight I think I experienced it : TTTS drum twice afterwarts. So awkward. Sort of two little roars next to each other (Brrr --- Brr) That was the first time of really being aware of it. Took a Lorazepam after that (was night time already 🙄
