That is fun. I'm imagining it heaped with red apples!

@Larry B Sims love your colored stakes - its becoming your signature. "Oh, that's a Larry B Sims basket."
July Challenge - Nature Walk Weave
Time for a new challenge! Forage or gather a local natural material and weave something with it or incorporate it in an existing basket. Share what you found and what you made. There is already a lot of inspiration in the "Show n' Tell' tab PS. Keep adding your scrappy baskets to the June Challenge post - it's never too late.

@Jessie Foster can you make us a list of your collection. It will inspire us with the possibilities?

My lavender just finished blooming and needs a good trim. Has anyone tried using lavender stems for any form of weaving? I already cut off the flowers for my herbalist pursuits, so no lavender bottles. The stems get very brittle when dry. Anybody have thoughts?
Palecek San Francisco Showroom Basket Light Fixtures
I was in San Francisco last week and visited the Palecek showroom in the San Francisco Design Center. Palecek is a high-end furniture maker incorporating a lot of natural fibers and weaving into their designs. I was very fortunate to be gifted one of their baskets a couple of years ago. I thought of you all and took a few photos I thought you’d enjoy. Note the weaving on the chairs in the background of the first photo. I have long wanted to weave a lampshade but I am particularly inspired by the table lamp body it reminds me a bit of a pineapple ($2,639!). Also, I’d like to learn more about the β€œrandom weaving” technique (I think that’s what it is called) shown in several of the lampshades. Has anyone made a light fixture?

Thank you for sharing! Brittany made a series of lampshades for her library. Not quite as elaborate as these, but here's a YT video of the process.
Found objects as handles
Riffing on the antler basket (thanks Shawnna for the photos and videos) on Pinterest I scrolled past a basket using a vintage potato masher as a handle. The metal part was woven into the base with the handle sticking up in the center of the basket. It made me want to run to the thrift store. What other found objects could we incorporate into handles? Driftwood Belts Upcycled pieces from clothing? Any more ideas?

I saw this in the Contemporary Basketry book I shared in the Inspiration Tab today. The artist (David Lindsay) used a garden trowel as the base to create a handle. It lists sweetcorn as the fiber.

Thrifted purses - repurpose leather straps or interesting handles. Inspired by the @Kelly Bertoli photo gallery in the "Using up Scraps" thread.
