The AI search check I run on a local business before anything else
Local business owners keep asking me whether AI is sending them any customers. Here is the check I run first. Ten minutes, no tools, no code. 1. Open a temporary chat, logged out if you can, so your own history does not bias the answer. Ask it the way a customer would: "best emergency plumber in [city]", then "who should i call for a water heater leak in [city] tonight". 2. Write down every business it names and what it cites. Usually directories, map listings and review pages, almost never the business's own website. 3. Run those same two prompts once a week and keep the answers in a note. The list moves around, so one screenshot proves nothing. If the business never gets named, the gap is almost never the website design. The order I would fix it in: Google Business Profile first. Every category and every service filled in, written in the words customers actually use instead of industry words. Then reviews that name the service and the city. You get those by asking for them specifically, not by asking for "a review". Then one plain page per service, with the customer's question as the heading and the answer in the first two sentences. Last, the business name, address and phone identical everywhere they appear, character for character. AI reads the copies of a business more than the business itself, and when the copies disagree it skips you. What does AI say when you ask it for the best in your category and city?

Thanks @Joshua Albanese this is helpful what do you mean by "Then one plain page per service, with the customer's question as the heading and the answer in the first two sentences." Is this on the customers website?

@Roger Jorns nice I am doing something similar but for my online servies business, I'm taking a hub and spoke approach but with guides that answer the questions that people type into Google or AI tools around visibility, authority, etc. for an expert-led business (i.e. Coaches and consultants)
New video: Google Gemini 4: EVERYTHING You Need to Know (3 Use Cases)
Google put Gemini 4 in the Gemini app this morning, so I spent the day putting it against Claude Opus 5.5 on three real jobs: a landing page for my own community, the edit of this video's hook, and a 3D racing game built from photos of my desk. Same prompts, same files, one shot each. Final score: Claude Code 2, Antigravity 1. Gemini won the video edit, with no prior experience of my editing style. I also break down what launched and what each build cost in time and money, with Google's benchmarks next to the independent ones. Download: The Gemini 4 vs Claude Test. The exact three prompts, so you can run the same test on your own work. Attached below.

Hi everyone! 👋🏾 Thanks for this space @Christian Peverelli 1. Where I'm based: I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 2. Industry I know best: Digital marketing, LinkedIn strategy, personal branding and business visibility. I work with established experts, consultants and service-based business owners, helping them become more discoverable and turn their expertise into commercial opportunities. 3. What I'd build: An AI-powered tool that helps experts identify where they're invisible online, understand how potential clients are searching for their expertise, and build a clear strategy to get discovered, build authority and generate qualified leads. I'm particularly interested in moving beyond using AI simply for content creation and exploring how it can solve real business problems people are willing to pay to fix. Looking forward to learning from everyone here!
