What are the last three things...
I have a question if you don't mind taking a minute to respond: What are the last 1-3 things you've searched on YouTube to learn how to do?

Troubleshooting my Bosch oscillating sander, ideas for DIY Air Compressor Carts, and how to find the s/n on my Predator 3500 Inverter/Generator.

@Daniel Sloan it has a speed setting on it and usually use it around 5 out of 6. I don’t know if that matters, but it seems like it’s not oscillating like it should. It runs okay most of the time but other times it doesn’t look like it’s rotating like it should. I took the sander head off and checked the belt—it’s in good condition. It was also pretty clean. I’ve only had it a couple years and I maintain my tools well, cleaning them up after each use. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love hand tools, especially those that are antique/vintage. I recently found this old draw knife at an antiques shop and thought I might try to restore it. It’s certainly seen better days, so I won’t feel horrible if things go awry. Anyone know if they make replacement handles for these or am I looking at making my own? I’ve not had luck finding any so far. I’m starting to wonder if I put the cart before the horse. It sure would be nice to have that shave horse I’ve always been wanting to make before tackling this project! 🤪😂🛠️

@Daniel Sloan I actually purchased plans for a really neat shave horse long ago for like $5. It even has add-on options for a spoon mule and stitch pony! HA! I just looked it up and I downloaded it 6 years ago. If you look up, “Ultimate Folding Shave Horse PLANS” by the channel “All the Hobbies”. This is a 2x4, folding, and multi-use bench! As for the draw knife handles, I saw some 6 or 8” long 2x2’s of Ash. I’ve never carved Ash before and since it’s a hard wood, I’m not sure how I’d do it without a bandsaw or a shave horse. 🤔
How would you fix this issue?
Our plexiglass came out of our neighborhood library door because it's been so cold. It took me a while to come up with a solution. What would you have done instead?

Awesome! I believe this is how I switched the “window” in my late Golden Retriever’s doghouse from plexiglass with weather stripping to a wire mesh screen for better ventilation during the warmer months. He was NOT spoiled at all… 😂
Scavenged Patio
I am a dumpster dining scavenger and it makes my frugalista heart so happy when it all works out. In this case I ended up with a lovely stone patio. The stone tiles were rescued from a pool hard-scaper who was tossing them (last pic) and the rest was from counter top places. Yep, the granite kitchen counter top folks have to pay by weight to have their dumpster emptied and they were more than happy to help me load my vehicle with their scrap. I recommend asking before helping yourself. Only one place told me know. And one place, that was behind a locked gate, let me in and helped me load. At another place I was in the parking lot when a huge sheet of stone feel off the loading dock. Some of the larger pieces in my build came from their accident. Once everything was in place I gave it 2 weeks to seat itself with the help of the weather. Then I went back with small bits to fill the cracks (pic 4). Dumped a bag of quick-krete on it, and swept into into place then used the hose to 'rain' it all into place to set. Oh and the dumpsters of these places often have whole bath counters with sinks and faucets. My outdoor garden sink as a rescue.

This is gorgeous! And I’m hereby borrowing (ahem, stealing) your term frugalista!

A couple if years ago I bought some firewood from a male friend of mine and I told him I had always wanted to learn to split wood and he asked me incredulously, “Why in the world do you want to learn to split it when you have and know how to use a chain saw?” There are several reasons I’ve wanted to learn, but being able to do it safely and effectively IMO has many benefits.

@Daniel Sloan No, unfortunately I’ve not. I’m still going through a long medical process with my hip replacements. I’m about to have what I hope will be my 5th and final surgery on my right hip but recently found out I won’t be able to wait too losing before having my left hip replaced. This whole mess has impacted every aspect of my life. My best friend and I have an RV we bought in August ‘22 and while we got two good years of use from it so far, we were barely able to use it last year and may not be able to this year. I went out to start the generator about 3 weeks ago and Medes to use the pull start. I realized pretty quickly I shouldn’t be yanking on any kind of pull start! Eeek! After all this is over, I want to learn to chop wood. In the meantime, I bought an older two-bit axe in pretty good condition and it needs a new handle. I also found an older draw knife and it needs new handles, but I’m having a hard time finding replacements for it. 🧐 Finally, I need to build a cart of my air compressor and plan to ask the group about this soon.

I fell in love with fly fishing approx 5 yrs ago. I’m wanting to improve my skills, knowledge, and meet other anglers in my area.
