Increasing Bacteria
Question @Dennis Wichter Is the fungal-dominant and bacterial-dominant two different ecosystems... Would increasing bacteria tend to increased the bacteria predators cycling more life and nutrients in the soil without affecting the fungal world?

@Phillip Greenwood ummmm . . . I don't think my neighbors would like to see me doing that!
Jasmine!
So, last winter (January 2025) I bought jasmine officinale cuttings from an Etsy vendor. The listing was for 10 cuttings, she sent 14. I dipped them in rooting hormones (organic) and put them in a pot in a south facing window and 12 formed roots. I moved them into larger pots on the back porch when it warmed up outside and once the ground was nice and warm started putting them in the ground. Most of them are along two sides of our shed in the back yard with 2" x 3" wire fencing mesh as a trellis since jasmine can get quite large. The last one is in my front flower bed. I only lost one of the plants after putting them in the ground. They are forming flowers! Most of the buds are in the ones that are facing south, but all of the plants are greening up nicely! I am so excited about how well these are doing! I love jasmine green tea and I plan on using the flowers for tea once they really start producing!

@Dennis Wichter it depends on the variety. Jasmine tea uses the jasmine officinale, so I made sure to get that one. It took me a while to find it. I forget what made me look on Etsy.
Old seeds v. new seeds
Welp, I learned the hard way that old seeds really don’t do as well as new seeds. I’ve tried three rounds of germinating seeds (bush and pole beans) in trays and twice direct sown, and I don’t think I’ll get anywhere w them. I’m bummed. I had several varieties I really wanted to try, but the seed packets are more than a couple years old, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised they’re gonzo. Hopefully it’s not too late in season to try one more time! So, I’m at the grocery store today and I see a bag of “15 Bean Soup.” I figured it can’t hurt to try some of these — and you can’t beat the price, 15 bean varieties for under $3.50! 😂🌱👍🏼 — and if it still doesn’t work, I guess I can always make soup. What do you think, am I silly for trying this? Have you grown beans or anything like it this way?

Yep. I need to toss my old tomato seeds because they did NOT germinate! I finally bought tomato plants from one of the growers at the Farmer's Market.

hornworms and other pests
Borage is a perfect answer to attract pollinators like bees and provides natural pest control by repelling hornworms. You should plant borage to promote pollination and support a healthy garden ecosystem. A little long, but worth it https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=03e6c53e8d6f6b3168079e84977ec0001201edd85219b43627f43643f19fbbd8JmltdHM9MTc3NzA3NTIwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=0c81ace2-3430-6d05-14dc-bbdf35136cda&u=a1L3ZpZGVvcy9yaXZlcnZpZXcvcmVsYXRlZHZpZGVvP3E9eWVsbG93K2h1c2srZ3JvdW5kK2NoZXJyeStjb21wYW5pb24rcGxhbnRzJm1pZD1ENjU0NkVGN0Y4RUJERjRBOTgwMUQ2NTQ2RUY3RjhFQkRGNEE5ODAxJmNodXJsPWh0dHBzJTNhJTJmJTJmd3d3LnlvdXR1YmUuY29tJTJmY2hhbm5lbCUyZlVDSmFybFZGdGF4QVlXdFpuZUJwbWJ1ZyZGT1JNPVZJUkU

I have some borage seeds and plan on putting some in my garden once I finish getting my peppers transplanted. I just want to make sure I have room for them first!
