💧 Watering Microgreens the Smart Way
Getting watering right is half the battle in microgreens. Here is the framework I use and teach: 1. Germination (Days 0-3) Level the soil so it is flat and even, sow your seeds, give it top watering, then cover with the blackout Tray. The lid traps humidity and keeps the seed coat soft without further watering. DO NOT PEAK 2. Daylight Wake-Up (First 24 h after uncovering) Give one gentle top mist to help loosen hulls. Think “morning dew,” not a rainstorm. 3. Growing On (until harvest)Switch to bottom watering once a day. Pour just enough water into the boot tray, let it settle, then place the growing tray on top. Roots sip what they need, stems stay dry, and mold risks stay low. Quick checkpoints - Wilted tips? Add a second bottom feed. - Yellowing or slimy spots? You are overdoing it, skip the next session and improve airflow. - Hot summer room? Water early morning and again mid-afternoon; cooler seasons often need only one pass. Your turn How often are you watering right now, and what tray depth or medium are you using? Drop your schedule (and any pain points) below so the community can spot tweaks that save you time and trays. 👇

am/pm watering - using bootstrap trays, coco loco at this time. recent pain points are amaranth and cilantro which we always grew easily. obviously they are very different grows, they used to be easy. using split cilantro from GH (always grows great), coco loco with a lights sprinkling of soil on top of soil, top water, stack and b/o one day - about a 16d grow to first true leaves. just not getting the yield. bought new seeds...still struggling with this grow.

@Joe Naiman-Sessions what are flood tables?

Kidding aside, I’m thinking of a high tunnel on our property (AG zoned), (either from Crop King or AmHydro) with NFTs, Bato Buckets for growing year round tomatoes, cucumbers, flowers, strawberries and leafy greens and micros. Right now I have 2 4 x 8 NFTs growing lettuces for Farmers Market (now done for the season) and 1 ten bucket Beto system growing pansies, 2 flood n drains from Bootstrap and 5 racks.
🛒 What Do Your Customers Love?
When it comes to selling microgreens, understanding your customers is key. What’s your best-selling variety, and why do you think it resonates with your audience? Bonus: If you’re not selling yet, which crop do you think would be most popular in your area? Let’s brainstorm!
